Apple TV small but has some limited good features such as picture quality.

Provides access to a variety of streaming apps but a lot need passwords etc which is annoying. The Apple TV app is very annoying in that it always advertises free streams but so many are at a cost. Disappointing, The remote is very sensitive and has to be handled carefully. A lot of the apps it has access too are not really free and require subscription fees.

  • Top critical review

Losing the plot. Did not meet expectations.

As a long time Apple TV owner, I looked forward to this purchase as an upgrade, but be aware of the cons. Pros : Performance Improvement, Ability to install highly localised apps such as iView. Same power cord, similar size, it is taller. remote is chunkier and harder to lose, but probably harder to replace, I was buying the old ones in bulk. Some new services. Cons : Siri is next to useless (how ?), Apple seem to have wised up to the ongoing costs of streaming music in perpetuity for a one time purchase so now there is *no* way to buy music from iTunes on this device. Nor will it search (why not ?) Siri can't search either (why not ?). Instead you are presented with SaaS style ongoing subscription offerings. Menu operation takes a while to get used to. Undecided : Not sure how well it caches movies or serves them to peers. I would like to think that if a group of previous gen Apple TV's are on the same network then this one would be elected "media server" for downloads due to the 32GB which could hold 7 or 8 movies. I make a point to purchase on this box to force the issue.

  • Apple TV the only device for entertainment you need.

We had setup the Apple TV in the lounge room, after a short amount of playing, got many games installed, got Plex setup and running of a local server, installed Netflix etc, everything ran beautifully. Couple advantages of this over our previous compute stick route, are: HDMI CEC( tap of the apple TV Remote brings the tv on, and sending the apple tv to sleep turns off the TV.) Speed (10 second load vs windows load times of the compute stick) Ease of use(one remote to do everything, vs keyboard/touch-pad combo device) Siri works brilliantly, dictation of the apple ID password makes the entering of it easy. It took me a while to figure out how to abolish the final remote, you can program your receiver remote via the apple tv, so volume up, click plus, it'll turn up the volume. So far there's been no downside at all. The games have been fun as well.

  • Great Home Entertainment Option!

Gives great Home TV options, many free or at a low cost once you set up. It takes a bit of practice to use the small remote, but that is great once you have mastered it! Although it is an Apple product and therefore sets up with Apple ID and then into their store, remember it is a top grade streaming device so Netflix, Stan etc are also options. There is a lot of excellent stuff available at no additional cost or for low cost subscription - mostly ad free!!

  • A great addition to the TV room

Easy to use for everyone in the house. The voice search works quite well but not as well as I was hoping for .... Searches the back catalogue (so iTunes , Netflix, Stan, etc) in precedence to the free to air TV channels (which have recent VOD back catalogues as well). Because of the scattered history of video on demand in Australia the content for a series could be spread across a few providers, eg: Series 1-2 in iTunes, Series 3-4 Stan, Series 5 Netflix. BUT series 6 is currently on FTA - why don't you show me that in the search! Everything else is great and easy to use.

  • Great new features

Easy to set up. Siri makes using it so much simpler and being able to download apps now really expands its functionality.

  • Small but technically savvy piece of equipment

What a great spur of the moment buy. I have 3 months of free Apple TV so purchased the unit not knowing exactly what it was or how it worked. All I can say it works well and that I soon found out that I had to click the remote to select something. I still haven't found out what the 32GB means. I was able to search for a SciFi show that disappeared from he other platform (set top box) that we use in the household but had to install Amazon Prima to watch it and I have 1 month of free access to this. We're set for lockdown.

  • Make your Smart TV even smarter

All your catchup needs are catered for... iView, Tenplay, SBSOnDemand, Yahoo!7 & 9Now. All your streaming needs... Netflix, Stan, YouTube & Plex. What about streaming from your local NAS? Infuse. What about live TV using a HDHomeRun? InstaTV. It's got games too. What more do you want? The only downside is the remote is a little delicate (partly glass) so be careful with the kids. Get a silicone cover for it on eBay or buy an older Apple TV 3rd Gen remote as they are compatible.

  • Remote control

Do not like the touch pad remote control. Way too sensitive and hard to control. Liked the old type much more. The set top box itself however is great
