More affordable option than OEM
These shades are cheaper than the VW branded ones. I believe the VW ones only come with shades for the rear doors, whereas these include the two small windows in the luggage area. They fit well but are not perfect. Mine have small gaps on either side, but this really doesn’t affect their usefulness. The magnets are strong but the double sided tape used to adhere the magnets to the window frames are rubbish. It’s easy to replace the tape with something better though. They do not affect visibility which is nice. As for light transfer from outside to inside, they do a reasonable job and I suspect about the same as most other shade options out there. For me the main reasons I chose these are the ability to still use the windows while they are attached and the fact they cover almost 100% of the rear door window. Not bad, could be better.
Good UV protection, with little restriction on out bound visibility, so happy with the shade cloth quality. More magnets (or alternative magnetic design) to the passenger panels to make it fit without the aid of stickies would make it a better product. Found myself trying to stretch the panels to get magnetics to catch only giving up and installing the provided stickies. Not sure that the stickies will last in the Aussie sun come summer. So far they are working well, even when rolling the windows down at high speed. Would like to be advised if you come up with an updated product.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Can be improved
My set came with 2 sets of clips. 1 set which sticks to the window sill / frame with double sided tape & the other side is magnetized. The other set slides into the window & holds the shade in place. The double sided tape option doesn't work even with a clean surface, would prefer this option to work as it still allows you to open the window with the shade on. The slide into window option doesn't allow you to open the window. For the money paid, I would have expected clips custom for the vehicle, not just the shade size and shape. Excellent Window shades!
We had similar Window shades on our old car which were Hyundai branded. These ones for the Prado are just as good! Actually, they're better because they hold FIRM with magnets instead of clips.
