    Outstanding!

At this price for an 8 megapixel camera I was not expecting something with this build quality. First impression when I took it out of the box was how solid this unit is. Strong metal casing, very well finished. Supplied USB cable is of ample length. Response time is almost immediate, with no lag. Magnification equivalent to a 10mm eyepiece. Have not been able to test planetary shots yet due to smoke haze in my area, but daytime test imaging was very crisp. Will update this review when I've done some planetary imaging. Great camera so far!

  • Top critical review

    Meh, lightweight in all respects.

Only suitable for planetary or nature photography. It is very limited in compatibility with astronomy software, Its maximum exposure time is 1 second, insufficient for anything except planetary work. Did not want to work for me even as a guide camera. I have no idea of its sensitivity but others' comments suggest the Sony sensor used is not that great. It has no ASCOM drivers, only Windows webcam driver functionality. It may find some uses for sky monitoring, etc, and at least it has a USB 3.0 connection, but I would recommend finding an alternative.

  • Awesome value for money

Great beginner camera. I was surprised by the quality image I got from my first video frame stack. I only have a 130mm diameter telescope too. My images of Saturn and Jupiter were pretty good and I was able to get cloud detail and red spot on Jupiter. My best image of Saturn showed the gap in the rings and some cloud detail. My telescope is manual too and you just need to pause the capture and realign the fame every now and again. This camera is too zoomed for a full shot of the moon. You will need to buy a focal reducer for this.

  • Svbony cmos camera

For the price, great for moon and planets and ok for bright deep space objects. Great great value, if you dont want to spend $1000s on a cmos camera.

  • Superb! Works much better than a smartphone

Very happy and impressed with results through sharpcap. Much better than my phone & phone adapter. Found it worked best at higher resolution setting with no sharpening(sharpens better with Registax). As someone already said its a bit like using a 10mm eyepiece however I feel its less than 10 the more resolution you give it. Plug and played straight out of the box into my 8" Newtonian with sharcap and 2x Barlow. Adjustable exposure setting really nifty :)

  • My first astrophotography camera

My first journey into astrophotography so I am hardly an expert and not quite sure what to expect. On opening the package I was impressed with the packaging and look and feel of the camera and then attached it to my 8" SCT and practiced on some terrestrial targets. Overall I think I have a lot to learn but this camera and the sharpsnap software is as good a place to start as any. I do suspect that I will soon move to a more expensive option quite quickly if I am bitten by the bug!

  • Quality Control

Not good quality as expected. Doesn't work the way it should & no clear image. Has a green tinge on the image.
