Amazing Picture Quality Even in Low Light

I wanted to upgrade from the D3200 to the D7200. I am not a professional, but am definitely serious about my hobby. I researched like crazy and it was a no-brainer for me to go with the d7200. Love the built in wi-fi & the fact that I can use it with an app on my phone (Galaxy Note). My main piece of advice is to make sure you are buying your Nikon (whether new or refurbished) from an AUTHORIZED NIKON dealer....if you do not...chances are you are most likely buying a "grey market" camera. (Research white market vs grey market Nikon if you are unsure what I am referring too). I purchased my refurbished D7200 from Adorama camera (they are authorized by Nikon) and received an absolutely perfect camera...it looks like it came right from the factory. The d7200 has a heavy duty feel to it & great grip area, which is perfect for me. I was able to take a pic the other evening, outside when the sun had just completely dipped below horizon...no flash, hand held & it turned out beautifully. With my d3200 I would find myself having to add a little color saturation to pics when editing...with my d7200, I have hardly had to edit at all because it captures perfect color in the pics... Basically...what I see through the lens is what it captures. Love, love, love this camera.....do yourself a favor...if you are on the fence about buying one....DO IT...you WILL NOT regret it.

Alright. Not fantastic. Go for a Full-frame camera instead.

The image quality leaves a lot to be desired. Camera is prone to very high levels of noise and chromatic aboration, which fortunately can be compensated for with software like Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop in less-than-ideal lighting. Coming from a Nikon D90 to this wasn't as huge of a step up as I was expecting. I would have been better off saving a few hundred more dollars and going with a full-frame sensor camera. The D7200 has pretty much all of the bells and whistles that Nikon offers, including built-in HDR, WiFi and NFC. In the end though, having to make up for it's shortcomings in image quality with multiple exposures or software leave me with a bittersweet taste in my mouth. It's an alright camera in the end, but for the price, I'd expect superior image quality than this partial-sensor camera delivers.

  • One of Best Crop Sensor Cameras

Upgraded to this from the Nikon D3200. The D3200 was great, but The D7200 has many more controls and capabilities so you can get the exact shot you are looking for. The colors are much deeper and less grainy, and the picture is much more sharp. Also, has better higher ISO picture quality. The autofocus system is super fast and phenomenal. One item I found a little difficult is the autofocus/half pressed shutter button. The half shutter button is much more sensitive, so it can be hard to adjust the focusing point and other controls while the shutter is held half way down, this causes additional accidental pictures. The D3200 had a better release button and you could feel the difference between being half way pressed and all the way down much better than the D7200. This is minor, just an observation that will take additional practice to master in my opinion. One item of note, if you have photoshop Lightroom, you must have the latest version (i believe lightroom 6 or higher) to be able to edit your raw files!!! Not Nikon's fault here, but I was super disappointing when trying to load into lightroom 5 and the photos were not recognized! You can still edit in lightroom 5, but you will need to have a program to convert the files to another format, such as .DNG or something similar. Thanks!

  • Great for beginners or those upgrading from an older model DSLR

I'm one of those that don't want to spend too much money and getting too deep into photography, but wants a great camera for casual pictures and special occasions. I don't need full frame or video, I have a cell phone and an Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal for that. I upgraded from my D3100 that is a great beginner's camera, but I would like more features, so I upgraded to the D5600, which is perfect for my needs. Pros: *No anti alias filter, photos are noticeably sharper that my older model *39 autofocus points, 9 of them cross points. Huge difference! More photos in focus. *Articulating TOUCH SCREEN. This was a big one for me. *Wifi and bluetooth connectivity. If you shoot in RAW+Basic JPEG, the camera can automatically download pictures using the Snapbridge app. I can upload directly to the web now, and post process later. Cons *Snapbridge app can be finicky. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8+, and it took several tries. But once the camera is paired with the phone, it makes things much easier. *Autofocus during videos is not its strong point, but I have my S8+ and Osmo Mobile 2 for videos.

  • Great Camera for Enthusiasts!

Easy to use? No. This particular camera is not meant to be a "pull out of the box and start shooting great photos" type of camera. It's a top end crop sensor camera with a TON of great features!! Of course, with TONS of features, there's a learning curve that comes with it. It took me some Youtubing and researching to figure out what every button does on the camera. You could read the manual, but I'm more of a video type of learner so youtube was the best for me. After learning what most of the buttons, features, and menu options do you will be flying with living colors in no time! The shutter sound of this camera is very very satisfying especially coming from a Canon Rebel T3. The body of the D7200 is very sturdy and feels great in the hands. It's heavy, but not overly heavy. Gives you the feel of real quality for a crop sensor camera. Overall I absolutely love the responsiveness and options this camera gives me! I have used it mainly for car photo shoots and couldn't be happier! If you don't have the money to go full frame and want something budget friendly but can perform, this IS the camera to buy! Job well done Nikon!

  • Packed with features!

This camera is not easy to use and that's the point. It's not an entry-level DSLR so it is going to take time to get used to operating a camera with more features. The actual camera; the quality is tremendous and has met or exceeded every expectation. Paired this with an 18-105 Lens and it's very versatile and allows me to grab all of the shots that I want wherever I want.

  • Simply The Best.

I have looked at, Shopped for, and bought several Crop Sensor camera's. and this is by far, Simply The Best!!! Its not even the newest camera of its type available, but after doing extensive research, watching as many reviews as possible. and now using it for the last couple of weeks. I have come to the conclusion that this camera gives you more bang for your buck than any camera of its type out there. I am now looking for a second one just to have a backup. I love this camera's ease of use if you want to just take fast and simple pictures, Or if you want to explore your own creative talent by getting extremely technical with all of its many high end features. this camera does it all. Buy one and you wont regret it.

  • Outstanding camera for the enthusiast (and pro, I suspect).

As an interested holiday/vacation type photographer, I traded in my D-90 for the D7200. It has a long list of impressive capabilities, many of which I doubt I'll ever use. On the other hand, there are very nice features that can be accessed either automatically or manually. Commonly used manual settings such as Flash, Focus, Metering, ISO and EV are easy to 'tweak' by simply pushing a button and rolling the command dials. The settings are easily read on the 'info' or 'i' screen, so you don't have to squint and try to read the little LCD window on top. A neat feature is the ability to select sharpness, vividness etc. on a +/- scale of 1-8 (I think) in the menu, easily accessed all on 1 screen. It does have some bells and whistles that seem to be bells and whistles, but hey, maybe someone may have use for them. My one minor 'gripe' is that the photo files only have a 3 digit (number - 100, 101,102 etc.) naming system. The D90 has 5 characters, which are really useful in separating groups of pictures (e.g. day XX of vacation, or a 5 letter abbreviation of a city or vacation site) for later identifying and/or printing. Overall, an awesome purchase.

  • Nikon D7200

Very good camera for the price. Had to buy instruction book on operation of the camera (available at any good bookstore) The camera has many new features including the ability to have two cards available to use. Is light weight and easy to carry on plane, boating or hiking. Quality was so good bought a second one for my husband so we can interchange lenses.

  • D7200

I purchased this camera as a backup for my D500 and to replace my aging D90. The customization for the controls takes some getting used to, but the in camera edits are easy to use and the built in WiFi is seamless. Quick auto focus and a vast improvement from the D90! The only thing this camera lacks is the folding screen which the D7500 has, but I love the idea of the 2 SD card slots just in case. This camera is good enough to be a front line camera and I will continue to use it until the controls feel like second nature. This is a good buy and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an intermediate DSLR that is past the D3000 stage and doesn’t want to pay 2 grand for the D500.
