Ninja Indoor grill and Air Fryer

The grill itself is far from compact so if you don't have lots of space on your counter and don't want to leave it out I wouldn't buy it. The instructions are rather vague for my spouse but that is her department. She has used it for sausages and last night T-bone steaks. The steaks were a tad over-cooked but otherwise great. Just need to learn about the cooking times if you don't want them over cooked. She is enjoying it and is going to do chicken breasts tonight. One thing you should try and do is use it near a oven/stove fan so that you don't set of your smoke detectors. Since it does draw a substantial amount of power, don't use it at the same time you are trying to microwave. It will pop the CB. Other then that, We recommend it!!

UPDATE - Serviceable, but results aren't worth it...

Following up on my original review, with good and bad news. First the good. Wanted to try a couple of steaks to really test the grilling performance. Prepped 2 x 16 oz. strip steaks with a brushing of oil, salt and pepper (as I would for outdoor grilling, except used the recommended canola oil instead of EVOO). Grilled per the guide on HIGH for 9 minutes flipping half way through. Nice grill marks and the steaks were cooked a nice medium rare. Success. Final test was a recipe I've made for over 20 years - Grecian chicken breasts, boneless, skin on, marinated in EVOO, garlic, salt, pepper, oregano and lemon juice. Set the grill for MED (450 deg.) and timer for 15 minutes, 1 min less than recommended, with instructions to flip twice during cooking. Flipped once at 5 minutes and things looked OK, Second flip at 10 minutes and found burned hockey pucks of dried out chicken. TERRIBLE. I've made this recipe on the outdoor grill a hundred times and never burned them or dried them out. In fact, my claim to fame is how I keep them so JUICY. NOT on this device... So, read on below for my initial impressions, but I've reduced my original 3 star rating to 2 stars. It's not the seller's fault, but I would never recommend this appliance. The things it does well (thick steaks and bacon) are OK at best. The things it does poorly (marinated chicken breasts and pork chops) are mediocre at best to awful at worst. It's not worth the money or the counter space you'll have to give up for it. Good home cook friends have been raving about their air fryers for years, but I always resisted b/c we have a convection oven and I'm not big in to homemade, non-fried French fries. But the grill capability of this unit intrigued me though, b/c our outdoor grills are inaccessible much of the winter, So, with admittedly limited usage thus far, some impressions. It's large - takes up a lot of counter space. Lots of (big) parts, not all of which nest inside the unit, so you have to find storage for the overflow, Cooking times in the included guide and recipe book run long - they're not going to let you eat a slightly pink pork chop. But thank God I checked b/c if I ran it as long as directed I would have turned some great Berkshire chops into cinders. Not amazed by the grilling performance. Noticeable absence of meaningful grill marks. It does make some excellent, crisp, air-grilled bacon, but maxes out at 5 slices in a batch. Pan and grill grate take make up almost half a load in the dishwasher all by themselves. Overall, it's OK, but I'm not floored by it and am glad I found one that was pretty steeply discounted from the going price at Amazon and other online sellers. We'll just keep trying different foods and see if it does something that's outstanding.

  • Good grill without the hassle of propane or charcoal

Makes excellent food I have made made many chickens cut in half 5-lbs max, burgers, pork chops, turkey breast, pork loins, french fries, baked potatoes and they have all came out A+++++. Yes there is a learning curve and you have to watch the food if it,s something small. Start off on lower temps and work your way up so you don,t burn it up. This is the same as taking an electric stove heating element turn it upside down and throw a fan behind it then put it in a small box. This is why it gets hot quick. I don,t recommend bacon in any air fryer it will smoke your whole house up and coat the whole inside of air fryer with grease a real fire hazard. I have had mine for well over a year use it several times a week and never had to clean any grease out of the back grease tray. Also the older models like this have a way deeper pan this keeps the grease down the newer models have a very shallow pan and the whole lid get all greasy if not hand wiped down every time you use it.They all have the same wattage but the newer ones are wider. This is an update they are not durable the finish will come off. I baby this because it is my second one . the first one still works but the non stick was not non stick anymore. The first to go will be the main pan where the grill grid of basket rest on the pan no matter how carefully you sit it in the coating will chip off. Also my grill grids chipped just from cleaning it in the sink by itself and the included brush took the coating right off. I am glad I bought an open box that was never used. If I would have paid over $100 I would be irate. I only paid $50.00 and it still makes me unhappy.I am going to try the COSORI Indoor Grill Electric Smokeless Grill for my next air fryer I think they may be more durable. I have the old Cosori basket model over 2.5years old still no chips. Stay away from the newer ninja grills they have a shallow bottom pan so they have a deep lid that collects all the grease and the lid does not come apart to clean it. Also even after spraying the grids or pan food still wood not come off 100% in my $1300 kitchen aid dishwasher.

  • Hard to handle hot grill without proper protective grill mitts.

Very simple to use. Also very well made with materials that should withstand time, and easy to clean. My only complaint is that I thought silicone grill mitt gloves should have been included in the basic package.

  • AWESOME PRODUCT!

An awesome product which bakes, roasts, air fries and dehydrates quickly and easily. It's well made, solid, will last for years and emits way less heat than a conventional oven and is very easy to clean. It does take up a fair bit of space but this is a really minor negative compared to what it does so well. It's so quick and easy to turn out a full dinner in far less time than it would take using conventional methods and I highly recommend it.

I love everything about this machine but I wish it was a little bigger ...not taller that's is perfect but a little wider so it would hold 6 burgers instead of 4.
