Watch this one with your family. You won'd be sorry!
Dustin Hoffman and Kathy Bates are excellent in this underappreciated film about a motherless, troubled boy who possess a beautiful singing voice. It takes a demanding choirmaster (Hoffman) at a boys choir boarding school to tame the rebellious but extremely talented youngster and bring out the best in him. Young Garrett Wareing shines as the boy with an angelic voice. Back in 1962, Walt Disney produced a movie featuring the Vienna Choir Boys entitled :"Almost Angels" which spurred an interest in singing among young people of the day. It, as does "Hear My Song" (a.k.a. "Boychoir") contains some absolutely beautiful choral music, and this family film will have the same effect on today's kids if only they''re provided with the opportunity of seeing it. Highly recommended.
