Panasonic VX1 is a surprisingly good 4k camcorder
For a consumer camcorder, there are some surprising features here - 4k video capture, great optical image stabilisation, some control over contrast and sharpness, 24p option, and a mic input, all pretty rare at this price point. With a bit of poking around in the menus, you can achieve quite a lot of control over your footage. Or just switch it to full auto for those unexpected moments. Some features are only available in HD, not 4k, but they aren't the features that matter, IMHO. This model has no viewfinder, only the flip out screen, so if that's a deal breaker for you there is a higher end model with a few extra features (viewfinder, focus ring, etc). Note that I the battery charges while attached to the camera from a standard usb charger (5v) , but with a custom cable, so don't lose it. Upside is that you can charge the battery while using the camera if you have to, using one of those external USB charger batteries.

The best camera for your home
I bought this for when I move into my own unit in September 2020 so I will be able to use the camera once a week for taking photos and recording videos without plugging it into the PowerPoint since it is rechargeable.
