All you really need in a Sonicare electric toothbrush.

I've had several Sonicare electric toothbrushes, including a more expensive model. They last about 3 to 5 years with regular use by one person. This one has the most important features, which are the timer and battery charge indicator. The added features of the more expensive models are not that useful, except that this one doesn't come with a travel case.

    Sonicare Gum Health Series 3

I've been using a Sonicare for more than 15 years (this new one is my third) and I have to say I like it the least (out of the three). Like so many others have stated, this thing is NOISY. Okay, so ALL Sonicares are noisy, but this one pushes the envelope. I believe the newer head design (to eliminate the black/red gunk previous models produced) is the primary cause. I don't care for the "up tapering" body design as my hand slides upwards towards the brush when using it, and I have to keep adjusting my hand lower. The brush that came with it is useless. The outer bristles are raised and the thing just bounces off my teeth, preventing the brush from doing any cleaning on the surfaces, or inside/back portions of my teeth. I purchased a couple DiamondClean replacement brush heads as other customers have stated they clean better, and I agree. Because the center bristles are slightly raised on the DiamondCleans, they DO actually clean the tooth surfaces and inside backs of the teeth. If you're going to purchase this model, get the DiamondClean replacement heads for it. Overall, it's useable, providing you use the DiamondClean brush heads. I have no expectations that it will last, as they have been declining in longevity (quality) over the years. My first lasted about 9 years, my second about 6. I'll feel lucky if this one lasts 3...

  • Almost rates a 5

This is the 3rd Sonicare toothbrush I've owned. It seems to clean as well as the others, but it is louder than the other and frequently rattles during use. Perhaps, in the past, I've had higher end models and that is the main difference. However, if you're looking to get your teeth cleaned and don't mind a noisy brush, this one is for you!

  • Philips Sonicare Gum Health Series 3 Electric Toothbrush

When my Sonicare e Series went up after 8 years of use, I knew that I was definitely going to get another Sonicare Electric toothbrush. I had received rave reviews from my dentist at each and every checkup and cleaning for years. Gingivitis runs in my family and before I purchased the e Series Sonicare, I was fighting the beginnings of the disease myself with bleeding gums and lots of tartar. So sticking with the Sonicare didn't require a second thought. I chose the Gum Health Series 3 because it focused on my main problem. I am very satisfied with my new Sonicare and I love the fact that I can charge the toothbrush and put the charging base away until the brush needs a recharge in about 3 weeks. There are also 3 intensities of brushing to choose from. I really love this Philips Sonicare Gum Health Series 3 and hope to have 8 years of service from it as I did with my e Series Sonicare electric toothbrush. I continue to have great checkups from my dentist with my new toothbrush, of course!

  • More vibration and noise than the Sonicare models that use the Series E brush head

I was attracted to this model for its gum health design (whatever that is ???) and the lower cost of its replacement brush heads. The model cleans well and holds a charge sufficient for more than a week. Downside is vibration and noise - both disappointing but tolerable.

  • Portable, great battery, great toothbrush

This is a great, easy to use toothbrush with an amazing battery life.

  • Reliable and effective

This is my second Sonicare; the first lasted years. This particular unit has a different battery, and seems to go much longer on a charge. And it charges faster. The battery should prove to be even more reliable (a lithium ion, I believe, but check). The ergonomics are great, and it has three levels. Nice when you've got a problem with a tooth and need to dial down the vibration. I still wish the toothbrush gave you more of an indication when 30 seconds have passed in the 2 minute brushing cycle, like a beep or a pause. It can sometimes be unnoticeable. But that's about the only negative.

  • Blasts Away The Hidden Stuff

The vibrating action of the brush head actually seems to dislodge food particles caught in my bridge. I flossed and swished before brushing with the Sonicare and was amazed at how much more food it cleaned out. It definitely does a better job than just brushing. So far it has proven durable and easy to handle.

  • Nice move toward a cleaner teeth

I got this based on my desntists's recommendation and I'm glad I listened to him. It does really help with the plaque removal way better than traditional toothbrush and it does the job for you. It takes a few tries to get used to it but once you do, you will never go back.

  • Preliminary review

I have only been using this brush for 4 weeks so my evaluation is limited. The unit appears to work as described. It takes while to get used to using this type brush. I will know how effective it is to clean teeth and minimize plaque build up after my next 6 month teeth cleaning.
