An excellent addition to the Matrix family of portable tools!
I own a lot of Matrix battery tools - in fact, most of them. They're ideal for hobby use around the home and garden and the range of tools available on one battery is only eclipsed by Ryobi.
I've been suitably impressed with build quality, battery life and scope of delivery on most products - the Air Compressor is no different. It uses Matrix's matte plastic which had a semi-rugged feel and stands up well to moderate abuse. It doesn't creak or feel brittle, like some alternatives. Built-in is a nice caddy for the (included, attached) small-gauge inflation hose and tools - tyre pin, ball needle and plastic taper for exercise balls - or in my case, re-inflating my son's plastic fruit and vegetables because they're tasty. The skin also ships with a large-gauge inflation hose and adapter for air mattresses etc. - handily, this can be attached to suck or blow sides, so you can deflate as quickly as you can inflate! Stowage for the hose is around the top of the unit.
There's also a decent LED torch built into one side, operated by a dedicated switch. The opposite switch is used to determine where your air comes from - small-gauge, or large-gauge sides. The compressor is moderately noisy, but powerful for it's size - you dial in your requested pressure (in pounds or kilos) on the LCD display, and the unit fires until you reach it, where it automatically cuts out. Good for the compressor, and for where your pressure is important - bike tyres, regulation balls etc.
With a 1.5Ah X-One battery pack, the unit was able to inflate and deflate a queen-sized double-height air mattress twice completely, with a little bit of puff left over. That's not a bad effort at all.
Overall a no-brainer if you own other Matrix gear and need a compressor, but also a worthy buy if you're just looking for a tidy, jack-of-all-trades portable unit - just make sure you grab a battery, too!
