Remember to Lubricate your Cable Housings
These shifters are an exact replacement for the one that came from the factory. Yours are probably stuck, or you wouldn't be reading this. So while you have the old shifters off the bike, remember to lube the cable housings. This can be done by squirting oil down the housings while the cables are out. It can also be done by smearing grease on the old cables and dragging them through the cable housings. Either way, the lube job is just as important as the new shifters themselves. Let me start with what you see is what you get . This will work . it will do the job for normal day to day using them . if you are going to be a heavy and hard user you will need to pay more for hi end ! for the day to day user this will work . the cable will need to be run all new with this one so it is some work and time . lots of adjusting in doing this . for the money they work . The works
I replaced the grip shifts on my mountain bike because the previous - probably the original ones - became gummy and uncomfortable to use. I could not find just the rubber covers to replace. Anyway, these fit perfectly. The supplied wire was more than adequate length and needed to be cut off after the installation. You could choose to wind in a small circle and tape secure the loose end. The hand grips fit just fine. To make an easy install, I sprayed dry lubricant to inside of the grips before putting it on the handlebars. For right now I have only used the front shifter. The micro adjustment is great. Way better than the 3 position original part. It allows a perfect adjustment of the front derailleur no matter the chain position on the cassette. For my application the grips could be a bit longer. I will most likely get different ones down the road. The only thing that makes this a 4 star is the large amount of plastic used. New hand gripshifters for my Mongoose
Pros? The hand grips are a nice plus. Pay attention how everything old comes off..making everything going on real easy...especially routing wires to the end connection screw down points on the gears. I would buy this again. Cons? The cables are quite long in length, I wish end caps were included to cap off cut wire ends needing shortening. Final? I was looking for a good product at a cheap price. Great Shifter for a Great Price
Bike parts are getting better and better, these are extremely cheap shifters, so I was expecting them to be crappy, but they were just the opposite, I have several mountain bikes with WAY better shifters, but I still prefer these, they are cheap with both shifters (shimano capable), they came with the cables and extra grips, just what I want, I do advise getting these, for they are the best on the market in my opinion.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Just do it!
SRAM bike parts are top of the line, of the medium line, of gear accessories. More than adequate quality for the medium duty street, or lighter duty trail rider. I've wrenched on bikes for many years and often brought bikes back from the scrap heap to serviceable new lives. This 3 X 7 shifter set-up installed easily and shifted precisely for the 7 gear rear cluster, and made the range on the front 3 gears easy to adjust for noiseless operation. Add to all this goodness that the deteriorated rubber twist grips are renewed and the hand grips are new again; how can you beat the improvement for $20 and 20 minutes effort? Simple and effective
Replaced some worn out grip shifters as these cost less than the grip portion alone. Very clicky shifting and easy to accidentally shift, but then again you won't ever dig these into your leg.
