    An English series that is loved and will be loved for years to come! A perfect drama that runs season after season, romp after romp, with facts about each extended family, the hosts, the servants, the lives of everyone in a humorous alive, triumphant, way! The first series will catch you and memorize you to want to continue the series ... it is infectious! A must see ... FABULOUS DRAMA THAT IS SET IN THE PAST, YES; DAYS OF CANDLES, CHARM, AND CHIVALRY! ... It will bring you laughter as well as tears ... this is a great series and I think very much a beautiful landscape of houses, stone walkways and flowers, and all the charm of the early English countryside in 'play' years -- the English elite!     Disappointed !!!

    I have been watching the Downton Abbey CD collection when ever I have free time. I was up to season three episodes 8-9 when it all went down hill. This disk does not work properly. It jumps through the entire disk within seconds showing different scenes from start to finish. The strange think is that the advertisements work perfectly. Please advise on what can be done.     This was such a great find! I always enjoyed the series and am now glad to own the entire set. It's also fascinating to watch the extras and find out more about the era and the background of the actors.     Downton Abbey DVDs

    Downton Abbey is outstanding. However, when the discs arrived, the cases holding them were all damaged. The plastic sleeves in which they fit, were all cracked and broken. It seemed as if this damage was on purpose, since each of the three packages were completely damaged in the same way.

    Great series

    After being encouraged to watch this series, I began borrowing it from the local library. Got to season 5 and someone did not return the dvd set. I waited three weeks and decided to see if I could get my own set to watch whenever I would like to. Thus I purchased this set, and am so very glad that I did. Have finished watching the whole series and am now going back to watch again, and finding out that I missed some things along the way. This is a great series, love the setting, the cast and the story. Now I wish that there was more.

    It's "All Sir Garnet" with this quality PBS series

    Though based on a fictional family, Downton Abbey combines actual events to weave a fascinating and compelling drama. The story opens with the 1912 sinking of the Titanic and closes New Years' Day 1926. The Crowley family upstairs and the household staff downstairs go through the trauma of WWI, weddings, births, deaths, politics, divorces, infidelity, financial crisis, crime and all sorts neatly woven into a storyline that is interesting to follow and family friendly. The actors are all well suited to their roles, the costuming is excellent. Each episode will leave you wanting more and the final episode will leave you to wonder how the people of Downton dealt with the Great Depression and WWII.

    The series completely captures the essence of the aristocratic society in the late 1800's and early 1900's. It is both fascinating and engaging and keeps the viewer glued to their seat like an exceptional book does. By the end of the series the viewer is left wanting more and hoping that periodically individual movies about the series will continue for years to come. This is absolutely one of the very best series I have seen in many years and have even given in to other family members who were enthralled with the series when they were fortunate enough to catch a few random episodes on PBS. I consider this one of the very best series created to date and believe anyone fortunate enough to view a few episodes would also be hooked and want to own the series for themselves. Graded AAA+ for the exceptional portrayals and the individual actors/actresses including such people as Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, Joanne Froggatt, Jim Carter, Hugh Bonneville, Dan Stevens, Jessica Brown Findlay, Bredan Coyle, and many, many more!!!!

    Chronicles of Riddick, Star Trek, ...Downton Abbey? I can't believe I really liked it!

    My wife and daughter tuned a random episode on the tv one day and I was not impressed. I actually started surfing the web after a short time. They kept talking about it so I bought the complete series for a Christmas present (good husband right?). I didn't plan on watching it however.
