  • Better in all but two ways

Excellent picture quality. True black and HDR are amazing in certain games. Fast response and refresh rate and strong stand. Be aware that there are two fans that can be audible in the dead of night with a Noctua themed PC. A substantial warranty allays burn-in concern. However, there are two downsides worth mentioning that seem to vary across customers (luck of the draw). One of the fans occasionally makes a rapid clicking noise as it spins which is distracting and can be heard through headphones, marring quiet moments in movies, music or games. I am hoping a blast of compressed air down the vents will remedy this. There are some bright flecks on the screen in various locations that are concerning; they are not stuck pixels or scratches, but perhaps imperfections in the anti-reflective coating. They are visible and can be distracting when there is a light shining onto the monitor, e.g., a lamp is on behind the user who is facing the screen. In a dark room they are very difficult or impossible to see, and a dark room is ideal for an OLED screen overall. I am considering whether these drawbacks are worth a return or refund despite the clear advantages in refresh rate, response time, richness of colour, and size in comparison to my old (but trusty) 24" IPS Dell UltraSharp.

  • Incredible blacks and colour accuracy

This monitor is fantastic. Colours and deep blacks are truly impressive. The curvature isn't too deep and doesn't feel weird. The glossy screen is actually really cool after only using matte IPS panels. There are some downsides however that come with the ultrawide resolution and that's with streaming movies. You will have black bars because most movies are not filmed in this resolution which was a little strange at first but you get used to it. Lastly, for fps sweatlords this may not be the absolute best choice. A 240hz 1440p will feel smoother if you have a GPU to support stable high frames (3080/3090). Oh and the design of the stand and overall quality of the build feels superb.

  • Game Changer

This monitor is genuinely game changing. I cannot believe how much better things look on this than on my old monitor, which was still a very good 1440p 27inch monitor. The colours and contrast on the AW3423DW just bring a sharpness and beauty to the screen that honestly make a bigger difference than a resolution bump would have at this size. The contrast and black levels are spot on, and the lack of any ghosting and near perfect response is fantastic. This monitor is BRIGHT, it might not be the brightest on the market, but for the average user this thing is going to do the work handily, and HDR looks brilliant on a well implemented game. Ultrawide is also brilliant and the main reason I upgraded, and this delivers, the curve is seemingly perfect and there is no distortion that I can see. Very comfortable to use. The monitor itself is a little 'gamer' but its not overtly aggressive about it. From the front on a VESA mount, you'd hardly notice it. With the included white mount or if visible from the back it does stand out quite a bit though. Consider this in your purchase. I do personally like the design but it might not be for everyone. The inbuilt interface is fine, its getting some flak but honestly how often do you even use it after initial setup? It also has some small fan noise, but it is significantly quieter than my PC fans as an example and I can only hear them with everything muted and actively listening for it. The ONLY thing that lets it down is the packaging, the monitor had clear 'bubble wrap' marks on it, and what I assume are glue marks as well. Nothing a good clean couldn't fix, and only really noticable on a black screen, but it was still a bit annoying. This thing is not cheap, but if you have the funds to go for it, you will not be disapointed. I could not be happier to have dropped the cash and would recommend this monitor to anyone who can afford it.
