This turnout can be set up as a remote or manual switch depending on which switch machine is added by the modeler. The outside radius of the turnout is 30" and the inside radius is 22". Curved Right-Hand Turnout.
If eBay wants me to say something bad about the Atlas curved switch (turnout) then they will be disappointed. I have nothing bad to say it. The switch is like any other track object. Treat it right and it will treat you right. I don't run Digital Command Control (DCC) so I can't speak to that. What I can say is I ran and run two Bachmann Schnabel Cars through both exits of the switch with no problem and that is with an Atlas SD70 doing the pushing. So yes the turnout is worth the money.
I've purchased and used several Atlas turnouts previously without trouble but have had unexpected
problems with this one. I'm not sure that it was manufactured properly. My locos have been jumping off the points. The gauge was not set properly and has been a pain to get them back to what they should be. Please let me know if you find anything.
Thank you,
Tom Vanko
Atlas Model 288 - unique radius setup: 22" inside, 30" outside 16" long, fit perfectly into my 22" curve to add an outside bypass. no one else seemed to match what I needed. 288 is RH curves; 287 is LH. You will need a switch activator/control.
