Good modem, but Optimum had trouble with the set up
I bought this to replace my Optimum cable modem, because we got tired of paying $10 per month for a piece of hardware that they have not replaced in years. The ARRIS modem itself is easy enough to set up at my end, but it took Optimum multiple tries over several days to get it to work with their telephone system. I do not know if that is Optimum's fault or not, but they are so difficult to get in touch with, and everytime they would reset the modem it would cut off the WiFi & therefore the phone call with the tech. Device will not sync with Optimum
Not easy to setup will not sync with Optimum. I call Optimum and they try to sync the device to their network, but it will not. I would like to return the device. Excellent Choice for 300 Megabit Optimum Service
Looking to eliminate my monthly rental fee with Optimum, probably a common topic. Reading the reviews this modem seemed to be compatible with the service. Plugged in the unit and within minutes internet was detected and communicating with Optimum. Using the online portal, I registered the modem and within 10 minutes, I no longer needed my rental modem. Not everything was perfect, my router/network required a hard restart to work out some issues. For the first 2 days I suffered some intermittent connectivity issues and loss in transfer rates. After a hard restart of the entire system along with the modem, all the issues sorted themselves out. Performance seems to have improved over my old rental unit. Pings have dropped by about 4ms and transfer is a hair faster. I only have 200 megabit service so I cannot speak to top end of the modems ability. Given the excellent price and good performance this item is a must buy for anyone looking to drop their rental modem fees.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Own don't rent. Save $$$$
One of my best decisions in years. Swapped out my optimum modem in minutes. Disconnect Optimum's rented modem, plug in my own new modem, call optimum, wait a few minutes for them to activate your new modem, DONE. This is the same model that I was issued by Optimum. It even has Optimum on the front. It came in the box with the cables (Power and Ethernet). It appeared to be a new modem except one of the feet on the bottom was missing. To me that was a minor defect. The only problem I had was getting a person in Optimum to remove the old modem and add the new one to their database. This only took a few hours and it had nothing to do with the modem. Didn't work

It finally works!
