Used this drill for the first time today June 29 and the result is a badly skin burned left hand trying to get the keyless chuck tight enough to hold a drill bit securly enough to stop it spinning in the chuck jaws. Normal tightening by turning the ring and chuck in opposite directions is useless...the drill handle has to be removed to get anywhere near the ring to grasp it firmly enough and even then, bits still spin within the jaws. There is wrench access on the drive shaft for removing the chuck but no spanner included with the drill to facilitate this or use it as a means to tighten the chuck sufficiently to stop slippage. How did I get skin burn...the only way to get sufficient tightening to stop slippage of the bit is to hold the chuck firmly and give the button a quick hit. Removal of any round bits requires the same approach and it must be realized, undertaking this option is full of risk of injury. At 71 years and far from being a novice when it comes to any power tool, my only advice is to avoid this item and buy the keyed chuck version instead. If it wasn't for the return postage cost, I would promptly send it back from whence it came and I also believe this item should be banned from sale within Australia under the heading of 'Dangerous Goods'. I have a lot of respect for Makita power tools, but on this occasion with this product they have failed miserably. sincerely....steve
