Eventually, you'll fall in love with the SKX

Now I understand why it's a classic and so beloved. I purchased 4 divers prior, for less, or with hacking, ceramic and better sapphire, but this has the right feel, the right look, and it can go under without worries. Mine lines up perfectly, keeps time within single digit seconds a day. I also got lucky, purchased slightly used and received a flawless piece. Even the OEM strap is completely respectable and distinct. A tool watch with style and best of all, major brand status. It's only going up.

    Not as Great.

I thought the hands and hour markers would glow in the dark more easily. They do, if you place a flashlight on the face, but normal exposer to the sun isn't enough. I would look next time for some brand that uses Trillium for markers.

  • The diver everyone needs

If you don't have the Seiko SKX007 (or 009), you're missing out. I have a collection from Omega, Panerai, to Casios. The Seiko fits perfect into my collection. So much so, I have bought three. Everyone complains about the Jubilee, however I absolutely love it. Yes, you can spend $120 on the super jubliee, or oyster and the SEL fitment is a lot better, however I enjoy this one. I wear this in my weekly rotation with my Omega Seamaster Pro, and my Panerai 390. It fits perfect into my collection. The best part? The community is phenomenal. Joined a Seiko forum, and they welcomed me with open arms. Seiko to me, has always been a brand I have been aware of, yet I did not own any (except two vintages from my grandfather). Owning these other brands, I never really gave a second thought. However, I wish I did this sooner. If you have not already done so, pick one up. Beware of some coming from the PH, as I have heard stories of bad movements. However, I picked mine up new and am ecstatic to add this to my collection. Whether its a gift for someone, or for yourself get it. If you're looking for your first watch, get it. Or want to add it? Get it. No seriously. (and no, I am not anyway affiliated to Seiko..Relax). Enjoy!

  • Must have classic.

It's just ridiculous if you don't own one of these. Worst kept secret. Sure the movement doesn't hand wind and hack, the end links on the bracelet aren't solid, the clasp is tinny. But it just has that classic vibe and Seiko reliability. At 21600 bph this 7R26 mvt churns along with little worry of fragile gear train wear. This is a piece you can easy hand down to your kid when they graduate from school, having never serviced it. For its size it wears small. I normally never wear anything over 38mm and this sits just fine on my thin wrist. The jubilee bracelet is a love it or hate it. I love it. Give it a chance. It wears as close to a leather strap than any other bracelet I've owned. Goes without saying there's a world of great aftermarket stuff you can do with it. Wear it with a smile, as it will run with the Subs all day long. Oh yeah, throw a NATO on when you dive. Even though the oversized spring bars will never break, you should play it safe anyway. No need to leave it on the ocean floor.

  • Classic for a reason.

The SKX series of dive watches has been a respectable member of Seiko's automatic line of watches since their debut in the 90's. As affordable as they are popular, no other model of watch by any brand is as easy to modify, either. ISO certified, quirky, highly readable, distinctive, and absolutely functional as a tool watch, any SKX is worth the money paid for it or invested in it. Practically speaking, the SKX007 looks slightly large on my 7" (17.8 cm) wrist, but it is so well proportioned and comfortable that I am very, very happy with it. I would recommend the 38mm diameter SKX013, 015, or 017 if your wrist is smaller than seven inches or seventeen centimeters. As a series of dive watches, these measure about 12 mm tall, so please do not expect to fit them under sleeves and cuffs. The bracelet is very lightweight because of its folded, not solid, links, but I am very pleased with the weight of my watch fitted well. My clasp has seven micro adjusters, so it wears perfectly to my liking. Although this watch has been discontinued, it will remain popular as long as it exists for all of its features: no other watch, even now, boasts all of them at this price.

  • Functionally Lacking, But Lovable

The classic Seiko SKX007 is a favorite among most collectors. Seiko stopped making these in 2017, I believe. When it was available, it was not an expensive watch. At one point, it could be purchased for less than $200. It has no hand winding capability and no hacking - that is the seconds hand does not stop when the crown is pulled out, so it cannot be set to the exact time. So, compared to contemporary movements in watches, it is inferior. But, what it lacks in functionality, it makes up for in character. It has the classic dive watch feel and appearance. It has earned some provenance it the collector's world. It has even been featured in movies. See the Robert Redford 2013 film "All is Lost" for example. I love having this watch in my collection.

  • Great watch with great look.

This is the perfect size diver watch. I typically do not like the look or feel of rubber watch bands but this is truly the exception. Feels comfortable and looks nice partnered with this style watch. It is very easy to read both day and night. It is an automatic so a plus from having to deal with batteries. I do not have anything critical to say about this watch. A great value for the price.

  • Excellent starter Automatic Diver watch, value for $$

I am a budding watch aficionado and this is my second Diver watch [the other one is an Orient Blue Mako, another excellent choice]. I've had the watch for ~ 1 month and here are my thoughts: SUMMARY: 1. Excellent introduction to the Diver, Automatic watch category 2. Looks like it is worth more than what you will pay for it! 3. Pretty accurate time keeping 4. Better than another budget diver, the Orient Mako though more expensive than that watch 5. Highly recommend this watch. DETAILS: ------------- 1. LOOKS: * The watch looks very nice, classic diver watch. * Fit and finish is excellent … the rounds on the hour marker, etc. are perfect even on close examination. * The strap is nice and doesn't pull on the hair on the hand unlike my Orient so a definite plus * It was easy enough to remove a link to fit my wrist. However, it should be easy to switch to a rubber strap (for example) if you prefer that. 2. ACCURACY & MOVEMENT 1. The watch is pretty accurate and so far after 2 weeks of daily use, I think it had lost <1minute. 2. Since the watch is an Automatic, no battery issues! As this uses a solid Seiko movement, I think you can't go wrong on this front at this price. 3. I am still amazed at how quite it is ... unlike my Orient [much more audible] or a Baume and Mercier, I cannot hear the ticking at all!! 3. LUME: 1. I think the lume is decent but not excellent ... it lasts for a bit but not through the night. It is better than the Orient in this front. 2. It will be ok if you happen to be on a casual dive [<2hrs in the dark] though (let’s admit it), this is not the typical use case. 3. Most of us will have use for the lume on the dial and hands either when you wake up in the middle of the night and want a time check or if you are adventurous enough to go camping, etc. Unfortunately, here the lume on the watch may not meet everyone’s expectations. For the price, it is ok but a tad disappointing. 4. BEZEL: 1. The uni-directional bezel is nice, quite precise and lines up pretty accurately with the minute markers. 2. However, I have noticed that it rotates a minute or two by itself while on the wrist. It has happened a few times to me despite no deliberate actions on my part. May be my piece only but just calling out.

  • Great watch

Let's start by saying that i own many top of the line watches but wanted an everyday watch cause i can be hard on them and this watch is great. Although I did not like the band....at all. It was kinda cheap and the links are too spread out so I got a super oyster band and it was really worth the money and made this watch really nice all the way around. It's a classic stylish watch but keeps excellent time, and the lumonus marks glow for awhile in the dark. Great feel and I love the day date. Its not to chunky, the crown on the bottom feels way better. Great watch for the price and I think this will be the first of many from Seiko. Thank you

  • Way rad cool.

Way up on the rad scale, and super low on the putz scale. This is a great watch. Looks epic cool, and is super affordable, compared to most of the trendy diver watches. No one is going to look at you and say "Hey, you spent too much money on your trendy watch, or I bet that's a copy" Nope, you just get "Hey that's a nice looking watch" and it's well built, has good heft, and feels solid. No need to spend mega cash on a divers watch, when you can get this one. It's one way rad watch.
