    All Things Are Subjective

As a side note...My future wife purchased the original LP Set in 1971 as Her 1st gift to me...And a wonderful gift it was!! How could I not marry her after such a display of impeccable taste! I'm Still with her after 49 years. OK - now the the review...There is much controversy regarding this remix...Some folks hate it, some love it and some are on the fence. It's all subjective - your ears, your system, your expectations are all different. I, for one, enjoyed the remix..and I feel that all tracks were improved in sound quality. Some more than others. Much better bass, clearer vocals, a reduction of the Phil Spector "Reverb / echo" cleans up, what in my view, was a muddy, busy recording . In particular "Wah Wah" and "Awaiting On You All" are, although not perfect, much clearer with better separation and hence, are much easier to listen to. "My Sweet Lord" sounds more intimate - with a reduced Cathedral sound giving way to a more immediate presence . I love BOTH versions. The quieter songs really shine - George's voice is more up front and sweeter yet crisp and clear....and I am very pleased with this 50th Anniversary issue. I have a decent system powered by my McIntosh 2205...I have a sub-woofer, and the bass as some have reported, is not overpowering at all... I am happy with this purchase.

    All Things Must "Bass"

Just rename this one "All Things Must Bass". Turn the bass all the way up, turn the treble all the way down, until everything is nice and muffled, and bring the vocals a little more to the front. The 2001 remaster sounds better, to my ears, Spector echo, and all. I wonder if Giles could have done a better job on this? Preview somewhere before buying. Huge disappointment.

  • Hello George!

George Harrison wrote these songs while he was still with the Beatles. It would have been great if he had recorded many of them with the Beatles, but when they broke up he got a chance to go solo and record his own songs. I never got around to buying this album and it has been missing from my collection for too many years. I'm glad I won the triple CD now.

  • Production Values Matter

The 50th anniversary remix pulls out more musicianship previously obscured by the Phil Spector effect, especially on the 3rd disc. I recommend it.

  • George Harrison All Things Must Pass 50th Anniversary Remastered CD.

A classic recording newly remastered. Less dark, less murky than the original Phil Spector “wall of sound” production. Harrison’s vocals are cleaner and clearer. I prefer this remastered version to the original.
