Based on the Greek myth of Hercules, the son of the god Zeus and a human woman, HERCULES achieved permanent cult status in its short four year run. Good show, worst season, acceptable dvd
This is the best show ever. Though this was in some ways the worst season. (Season 4 tends to be the worst of every show.) While the season overall may get more negative criticism on episodes, in the producers defense the main star was sick and they had to work around that. Even so, many episodes of Hercules season 4 were great or entertaining. They did 3 episodes showing Herc as a teenager, Armageddon Now threatened a world without Hercules, the lady few episodes blended a good story arc (& finally some closure with Hera) and it made us laugh historically with Porkules. The anchor bay set shown here is the best way to get Hercules on DVD. It has some entertaining special features, like commentary and interviews. I'm not saying the special features are great. On none of the seasons of Hercules was there any deleted scenes or alternate versions of episodes. (Otherwise my rating would have been a lot higher.) After Anchor Bay went out of business, Universal released their product by themselves, but there are no special features.
