  • Great quiet flat pressing on orange vinyl BUT...

The orange vinyl is thick and quiet... Remastering is terrible. ABC this with an original pressing and a later 80s pressing and both older pressings are clearer, more dynamic, the drums have that great Visconti sound... It's all mid-range here, sounds like it was mastered from an old cassette...The cover is darker and uglier than the originals... Love the vinyl, it looks great and it's quiet but, yeah... Unless you are some kind of absolute Bowie collector I don't think you need this. I'm glad I bought it cuz it's pretty cool, and I have a number of the other recent reissues on colored vinyl that sound fine and comparable to the original pressings... But if you're looking for better sound quality, hunt down an original copy, probably for roughly the same price. No idea why they seem to have remastered it to take all the qualities that made the original release so innovative. It was a game changing drum sound when this came out and you won't hear that on this pressing.
