The Spike Jones Anthology AKA Musical Depreciation Revue is a fun set of recordings. Spike Jones, if you're old enough to remember, made some of the wackiest recordings of all time. Funny with weird sound effects, crazy instruments, and strange vocals. As a kid, I thought they were very funny. I took a record to my 2nd grade teacher to play in class, but it only played for 30 seconds and she quickly took it off. She didn't appreciate Musical Depreciation! The records were like a musical burlesque. This 2-disc set features 40 of Jones' best 78rpm records. He did venture into the LP field with some very funny results. He also had a regular dance band with traditional dance music. I believe it might have been televised in the Los Angeles area. But the creative, zany effects he was able to concoct were really the highlight of his career. Silly though they may sound by today standards, they offer an insight into what was funny to some in the late forties and early fifties. Be Brave. Give it a listen!
