Product Information

Sam Baldwin (Tom Hanks) is a good father and a successful architect. But he's also a lonely widower. One night his precocious 8-year-old son Jonah calls a late-night radio talk show seeking a cure for his father's despondency. When Sam hesitantly takes the phone and discloses the story of his magic-filled marriage, he proves to be a deeply feeling and gentle man. His plight profoundly moves the program's sympathetic female listeners, and thousands of women write in offering to help him `recover' from his mournful insomnia. Recently betrothed Annie Reed (Meg Ryan) is one of the many listeners touched by Sam's story. To complicate matters, she's afraid her upcoming marriage promises stability and security but no excitement. Although Annie's supposed to be driving to her future in-laws' house for the holidays, she knows that she's already fallen in love with Sam and is on the road to destiny.     When you feel like a no-brainer romance ++

    A simple tale of magic and destiny which brings together Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. The death of Hanks' former wife, and the efforts of his young son are the catalysts. Very strong supporting cast makes for a good amount of fun.

    Good story even though the two leading actors are far less than stellar as human beings.

    This movie, to me, is an oxymoron; I like the story and the boy, Ross Malinger as Jonah, adds a very decent innocence. I checked the box,"the characters were engaging" - But not the actors; don't like Tom Hanks politics & Meg Ryan is a trashy excuse of the human race.

    It doesn't play :(

    I've seen this before and I loved it. Realized I didn't own it. Bought it recieved it and tried last night to watch it and it's all marred up on the back and skips so badly you can't even watch it for more than 5 minutes w out having to skip half the movie so the dvd will play. 3 bucks or not it doesn't work :(
