    Superb acting on both Hopkins, and exceptionally Winger.

    Though only inquired a bit through my kids love of the Narnia series, I picked this up to learn more of C.S. Lewis and I was not disappointed by a long shot. His humanitarian, theological and academia endeavors were pleasantly displayed most similar to us, addressing some of life's deep and dark stages with valor and courage, among many emotions we share. Debra Winger has won me as an lifetime fan for her portrayal of Joy Gresham and her candor, resolve and sincerity wins not only the heart of Lewis, but all who get to see her intimately pursuing a meaningful relationship with those whom she chooses to include in her life. Brilliant Mr. Attenborough.

    This is one of my favorite movies which I recently purchased to replace an old worn out VHS video tape.     Shadowlands

    A very touching film of the life of C.S. Lewis. In his later years he falls in love with a fan of his, only to lose her soon after to bone cancer. Very tragic, but a very good film. The place where it takes place is also beautiful.

    The story of CS Lewis and the acting are terrific! It is an old style version - not BluRay or anything close. We had heard the movie was excellent and were glad to get our hands on it. I am surprised whoever has the rights to it does not upgrade to BluRay.

Lewis in this convoluted love story between him and Joy Gresham, the American Christian Jewish divorcee and former communist. Definitely worth seeing for any fan of Lewis and his many literary works.

    A true and powerful love story

    Very moving. Joy Davidman only lived to be 45 years old. Her marriage to "Jack" was originally out of convenience to keep her in the country, but then blossomed to be the real thing. Watching the film reminds me to take each day one day at a time as a gift.
