Not worth the money. Slow, clunky and unreliable. The listing is grossly inaccurate.
The software supplied indicates that this is a 3,600 pdi scanner which INTERPOLATES up to 7,200 dpi. It is VERY slow. A 35mm negative scan at 3,600 dpi with image correction and dust/scratch removal takes abut 8 minutes per negative. The software has to be reset for every scan and there is no facility for saving preferences or speeding up the process. One negative at a time only. The listing states 8 seconds per scan. That's a total joke. Even a pre-scan takes 12-14 seconds and the fastest scan at the lowest resolution with NO colour balance or scratch removal takes at least 24 seconds.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

A very capable priduct
This is a cheap, high quality solution for copying 35mm colour reversal filmstrips, Colour and black and white negatives and mounted 35mm slides. It comes with film snd slide holders to enable one strip of film and 4 slides to be inserted and processed one at a time. Well worth investing in if one has a collection of memories hiding in the lift. So much more convenient and painless than using attachments used with a DSLR. I’ve spent nearly £200 on 2 such devices, one was useless, the other superb but fiddly and inconvenient. had I known about Plustek’s products back then, I would have snapped this one up. They make a higher served version but expert reviews convinced me that the extra benefits were not required. Worth every penny - get the 8200i with the infrared
Really happy with this device - it's worth going for the more expensive model with the infrared scanning as it works wonders with cleaning things up. I had heard lots of complaints about the bundled software Silverlight but it is actually really good. I can only imagine the people who had problems were not very experienced with similar software. If you have used Photoshop or anything similar and have at least a basic understanding of scanning you should have no problem at all. You can adjust all manor of things in Silverlight to get the most our of your scans. There are a couple of small issues I had setting up on Windows 10. Firstly it would not launch the exe file from the DVD but this was the fault of Windows not the software - I got a workaround for this common problem online in 10 minutes. Second thing is to download the latest drivers and software online. My scans were not working fully until I had done this. Since then it has been clear sailing and a joy to use. 5 stars. I enclose some examples of scans from slides and negatives (the black and white pics don't work with the auto clean so that has to be done manually if you wish to do that)Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
