Nothing is what it seems behind the well-trimmed hedges of the picturesque cottages in the idyllic English countryside of Midsomer. Beneath the tranquil surface of sleepy village life, there exist dark secrets, scandals and downright evil. Murder, kidnap and blackmail are commonplace among the eccentric inhabitants of Midsomer. Midsomer Murders is the long running TV series of contemporary murder mysteries, based on the award winning Inspector Barnaby novels by mystery writer Caroline Graham. CASE 1 - THE KILLINGS AT BADGERS DRIFT A gentle stroll I the woods for Miss Emily Simpson ends in tragedy. To the village doctor Miss Simpsons death looks natural but her old friend Lucy Bellringer is unconvinced. Lucy eventually draws the unwilling Chief Inspector Barnaby into the case. Barnabys investigations reveal old rivalries, old loves and new scandals. Then a second horrifying killing shocks Barnaby into running the murderer to ground. CASE 2 - WRITTEN IN BLOOD Gerald Hadleigh, secretary of the Midsomer Worthys Writers Circle had never wanted to invite best-selling novelist Max Jennings to one of their meetings. When Gerald is found dead the next morning from a brutal battering, the other members of the circle wish they had heeded his reluctance. Inspector Barnaby soon discovers that Gerald is a man of mystery, a man with a past. When another body is found, Barnaby has a double murder on his hands.
