This was an engaging book for my 1st grader. I was surprised that she could recall so many of the characters names. It is a great story for kids who do not enjoy reading. The main character's grandpa teaches her a lesson through a fun outing. My daughter asked for me to read this several days in a row in addition to the times she was expected to read it for (her) Language Arts class.
