Oldie but Goodie
I used a 9* driver exactly like this for 10 yrs and could not find any better until I bought a Callaway V Series and used it for 2 years but could not hit it as straight. Then I bought an EPIC trying to get more distance and was a bit longer but not consistent. I went back to the 9* Ping and hit it so straight and almost as far. But I was hitting it low. So I got the10.5 off eBay to launch the ball better and I am hitting it straight and as long as the EPIC. I am 68 years old and a 2 Hcp. I don't miss many fairways. I average 240 yds. Ping Consistency
I have owned Ping G2, G5, G10, G15, and G20 clubs over the years and they have all met my expectations. I recently purchased this particular G5 woods set to go along with a full set of G5 irons I picked up at a estate sale. Even though I currently play G20s, I took this new set out to try them. The G5 driver still hit like a million bucks and so did the 3 wood. I didn't hit the utility club but I'm sure it played equally as well. Over 10 years later Ping G5 is still an excellent choice
If you want to hit it long and straight, the Ping G5 is still one of the best drivers out there. Tee it high, tuck that right elbow in coming down and let it fly! Shocking accuarcy and length. I'm 60, play to about a 10 handicap, swingspeed about 100. I get 280yds with the 12 degree driver. Best of all, holy cow it's in the fairway!
