Good value for high amp adapter

I'd recommend this. If you compare similar adapter that are sold by other resellers, this is a good value for money one. I purchased an 8A one. I haven't tested for the rated 8Amp but It seems to be able to hold the voltage at 11.6V with 4Amp output. I intentionally bought the one that is rated higher than my need. I'd say it's good quality but I haven't used it for a long time.

  • Top critical review

    The unit is faulty..

"this power supply has a built in ON /OFF control circuit. The Fan automatically works in accord with the working temp." This info is stamped onto the case of the power supply. The cooling fan on my new power supply runs for 100% of the time it is energised. It should only work when the unit temp rises. The ON /OFF control circuit does NOT work. Responses to my complaints are not understood ( or ignored) The description of the fault is disregarded with overly simplistic and worthless excuses. The unit is faulty and a replacement is needed. robert

  • Great value, so useful and reliable.

Great value, so useful and reliable. This compact variable power supply is extremely handy and flexible with its ability to supply any voltage from 3 to 24v at up to 2 amps, that it is a 'must have.' I bought 2! It regulates well, meaning the voltage stays stable no matter if the load changes. It's easy to control if using it as a charger, just increase the voltage slightly over the stated battery volts of the device, or set at the voltage stated on a device you are powering. It can be used for so many devices and purposes, and different adapters are available cheaply to allow connection to any one of them! The digital readout is handy and accurate too, no more guesswork. Only one caution, don't turn it up too far and blow your device up (in which case it would be your fault, not the power pack's)!

  • Plenty of grunt. Longevity is the question and fan a bit noisy.

Asked to review this soon after buying. I like to read real world situations from real people not marketing hype. I cannot give it 5 stars as this 21 Amp/24V power supply hasn't been at working long enough. Power supply has no branding so mystery manufacturer does not stand behind the product. The last non-branded power supply I bought from China was supposed to supply 15 Amps. When I asked it to push out 12Amps it blew an output transistor in seconds and that is why I bought one with output way over what the lights need. This one is for the same LED lights but is SUPPOSED to supply 24 volts at 21 Amps. We'll see how that goes but This one has a fan which is a bit noisy but where it is installed noise doesn't matter too much. It might for you though. So my tip is buy more powerful than what you need. IT should then run cooler and last longer. Good luck.

  • It works, but may need fan cooling if used at high current.

It made a loud crackong sound at initial turn on, but has been working eversince.

  • Good Product

Used it as a replacement for a blown power supply worked well. The original power pack would have cost at least $50. This unit has higher output and less than halve the cost.

  • Buyer Beware - Not rated as specified.

The unit I bought specifies 48v 4A. I had it tested using an electronic load and unfortunately it fell well below its specification. I could only draw up to 1A. Above 1A the over current protection kicked in causing the output voltage to drop to 0v. The power supply only weighed ~160g. I felt this was way too light for this spec. (48v 4A), so I decided to open it to see what was inside and discovered it contained a small POE network adapter. Hence, why it could only deliver 1A max.. Do I recommend? For light duty applications it will work fine. If your application requires more then I do not recommend this product.

  • Not safe

While the adapter worked as advertised I found that the insulation/isolation was inadequate. I installed the supply under a veranda roof well protected from rain but found that after a slightly foggy night the supply started tripping out the RCD earth leakage protection device on that circuit. There was no condensation on the supply but it appears that even a small amount of atmospheric moisture is enough to cause leakage. Once the supply was warmed up with a hair dryer operation returned to normal which leads me to the conclusion that the insulation or separation of components within the supply are inadequate. As the supply relies on free air circulation for cooling it would require a large moisture proof enclosure to make it safe. As we get temperatures that occasionally cause condensation to form on metal surfaces inside I consider the supply to be unsafe for even indoor use.

  • Fair

as the add says "strip lights and led lights ONLY!! no good for radio power supply !!!!! very dirty with noise .

  • Good power supply

item is as described. However adjustable voltage range is not as wide as suggested. The power supply was able to consistently deliver 10 A at 12 V.
