    plug and play external drive

The Sabrent sata to usb external case is a great idea, and well implemented. It can hold either a 3.5 or a 2.5 drive, so it makes it easier to deal with only one thing to store. This is great if you have bare drives laying about, just plug them, format them and your ready to go. Very handy for backing up systems and files, then putting the drive in a safe place. I use it to save copies of my work.I leave the lid open when I'm using large drives and copying lots of data, It has a duct or port in the bottom that could serve as an air intake. Faster on USB3 of course but works on USB2 as well. I don't beleive the lid latches, if you want a positive closure, that will stay shut, add some velcro. Has an on/off switch so you don't have to unplug the power cord when swapping drives. Works like its supposed to, which has come to be a high standard in the mediocre world of modern commerce.

Good for a computer but not for my router

Bought this to use as a NAS connected directly to my router. Unfortunately, my Netgear didn't recognize the hdd when connected using this docking station. I have the same hdd connected to the router using a different brand docking and works great so the issue is with the Sabrent. Works great when connected to my computer and also works well with my Nintendo wii.

  • Love the features

This is a great external hard drive docking station, like it because of ease of use and you just have to pop open the cover and slide the hard drive in and power it on. It is easy and fast to use. I installed it to my computer and use a 2tb hard drive with it and works great. Really satisfied with this product and am going to buy another one. Recommend it to everyone.

  • Easy to use!

I had three drives from a computer that had quit working. My wife had numerous photos on one of the drives that she didn't want to lose. With the Sabrent docking station I was able to read the drive and save all her photos. The product worked very well from the start with no problems. After it ran for awhile it quit working. I was concerned at first, but after pulling the USB connection slightly back from my laptop USB port it started working again. Not sure what caused the problem, but was very happy it started working again. I will no more as I continue to use the docking station.

  • Good value docking station

Said it was open box, but looked brand new to me. Works perfectly with power hungry 3.5" 7200rpm drive. It even has a built-in fan to keep the hard drive cool which is pretty neat.

  • Easy to switch from one hard drive to another

Very easy to set up Just plug in the cable and power supply and your hard drive and you are ready to go. Nice plug and play operation. Hard drive fits nicely into case and is held in place so it wont come unplugged. If you have multiple hard drives its very easy to switch from one to the other. No tools required.

  • Nice 3.0 USB to SATA docking station

This is a nice way to keep dust off your SATA drive. Drives are easily connected and removed. I use it for both a 3TB 3.5" drive for backups and a 2.5" SSD that serves to hold working material that I can move between two machines. Function is flawless so far. Have not tested transfer rates. It's a nice package. I would actually prefer if it was vertical rather than flat to take less desk space but it isn't a big deal.

  • Great product, easy to use.

Very easy to use: I did read some reviews first and noted that is was recommended to update the firmware. After that, I just popped a drive in the device, downloaded the cloning software on my PC, cloned the hard drive from a 500 gig to a 1tb, then switched the drives and I was set. Thrn I transferred some files from another hard drive into the PC new drive.

  • Easy to Use, Does the Job

I bought this to get old files off a hard drive because my computer died, RIP, but the hard drive was ok. It hooked up easily, did the job. I got all the information off the old hard drive and put it on an external. The only complaint I would have is it is a little slow. But for the ease of use and the price I paid, I was way happy, see my smile :)

  • Easy to use docking station.

The unit does not have a particularly durable feel, so I cannot speak about lifespan, but the unit was easy to set up and has worked fine through 36 hours of file transfers.
