Nintendo changed the way children and families enjoyed free time at home by releasing the Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES. The release of this console came with the smash hit game Super Mario Bros. It was an instant classic along with many other releases in the coming years. Just three years after the release of the system, the game developer came out with the second version of the original, called Super Mario Bros. 2. Although the sequel was released soon after the original, it included many innovative features never seen before. With updated graphics, a new world to explore, and additional playable characters, it has remained a fan favorite for those who love Nintendo and the Super Mario set of characters. Super Mario Bros. 2 will make you feel as though you're back in the late 1980s when the game was released. This sequel appeared in the golden era of video game creations and spawned characters that have stayed relevant for many years. As you play Super Mario Bros. 2, you'll need to jump on top of your enemies to defeat them. Depending on the enemy, some will need to be jumped on multiple times to be completely defeated. To play this game, you'll need the original NES system. This game, like all other games for the NES system, is designed with specific cartridge dimensions of a 10-inch width, 8-inch length, and 3.5-inch height. This specific size of the cartridge will not fit into any other system. Although the Super Nintendo system takes cartridges as well, the cartridge size changed between the two systems. Super Mario Bros. 2 keeps the classic, two-dimensional, side-scrolling action, but there are new friends and foes that await you. You'll notice that the graphics are upgraded from the first game in the series, so you'll see more detail in both the heroes as well as the villains. The game gives the character's new abilities too, like being able to uproot plants, which may be used as weapons or could be hiding power-ups. In between the levels, there's a fun new mini-game that works like a slot machine. If you match the right symbols, you can gain additional lives, stars, and coins. Load up your NES cartridge and dive into the world of Super Mario Bros. 2. A reskinned version of a Japanese home market game, it introduces a whole range of features that have become staples of the Mario franchise. This single-player game on the Nintendo Entertainment System games has a wide-range of playable characters. Super Mario, Luigi, the Princess, and even Toadstool give you plenty of options for hours of fun. Pick up mushrooms for extra lives and tailor your approach to the strengths of each character as you play through the games. Just remember that Luigi is the best jumper while Toad is the worst, so you'll want to come up with appropriate playing strategies for fighting foes. Pick up Super Mario Bros. 2 today to have fun with all of the classic Nintendo characters and features of the Super Mario world.
Ok, so yes, I'm old enough to have been 11 years old when the NES came out. I was obsessed. I'll never forget playing the first Super Mario Bros. For those my age, you remember what that was like! Life changing. I was glued to that game until I mastered it. However, I started playing guitar a couple years later and got into rock and roll. Video games hit the wayside. I never played Super Mario Bros 2 back in the day. I was curious, so I just recently bought it. 30 years late, but never mind. It was weird at first. Different. Maybe too different. I watched some YouTube game play vids before I bought it thinking how weird it looked, and that I probably wouldn't like it, but I owed it to myself to take one for the team and but it anyway. So I got it. It arrives. The first 15 mins are awkward with it. Wait, I pick up characters and throw them? Ok, weird..... but fast forward a little bit and I was glued. I keep going back to that game every day. I was playing assassins creed the other day on my PS3, and I had to pause it because I wanted to get a 'quick' game of SMB2 in... I mean, it's like I'm 11 again. Now I'm sure anyone reading this has probably played it before, or is already planning on purchasing it. But if you're one of the few that was around back when this all went down, and somehow you missed that boat, and you're on the fence.. listen: Buy it. It's a fantastic game. You will love it. I haven't played SMB3 yet either, so I'll be getting that one too, after I solve this one, which may take awhile it looks like! lol
Fun, action platformer that's still awesome today!
This was a favorite game of mine when I was a kid and it's been nice to take a trip down memory lane. Super Mario Bros. 2 is somewhat different than the first game. Instead of running and jumping on enemies in obstacles courses, you pick vegetables and throw them at the enemies. You can pick up and throw most enemies, too. My favorite aspect of this game is that you can pick your character at the start of each level! You can pick Mario, Luigi (my favorite), Toad, and Princess Toadstool (Peach, for younger Mario fans). Each character has specific pros and cons and it's fun to play as different folks on each level to see which one is best on which level. My only complaint about this game is that there's no battery save or password system, so be prepared to sit and play for a couple hours if you're trying to finish the whole game.
Great game in japan this game is known as doki doki panic. Nintendo changed the characters and released it in north america under the msrio bros name. Its a good game and fun to play its very diffrent from mario 1 or mario 3 its predecessor and successor but all in all a great fun title
The most unique of the early Mario Bros. games. Has a lot of puzzling situations that are difficult enough to hold your attention, but not difficult enough that you'll be frustrated and quit.
This game works good and having no label is the only problem when you are looking for in a stack of other games with no labels but I fix that by printing my own label for it.
Compelling and exciting graphics and gameplay for the second Super Mario Brothers game that wasn't originally designed to be a Super Mario game. Timeless classic!
