Product Information
The only hoops title released in the U.S. for the Sega Master System, Great Basketball is anything but great. When you pass or shoot the apparently half-deflated ball, it moves in a willy-nilly manner. Passes are slow and lethargic, and shots have very little arch. Frequently, shots that look way off will mysteriously go in. Defense is almost a non-issue as pushing and charging fouls are called far too often. The ball goes out of bounds with alarming frequency, and the boundary lines on the ends of the court are actually in front of the baskets. In addition to poor court design and awful play mechanics, the players themselves are pathetic. The four-player squads consist of short, squatty, faceless guys who appear to be wearing diapers. A "Vitality Point" system allows players to upgrade their teams by winning games and by sinking five long-distance jumpers in a row, but this feature hardly makes up for the game's many shortcomings.Product Identifiers
