Great deal, the argument about these against the x4 priced Sennheiser HD800s is still raging on HeadFi. The sound is very well balanced, the comment on lack of bass by some reflects AKGs philosophy as a microphone and movie equipment manufacturer, meaning a good balance of all three tonal ranges. The open ear design, suspension, and large soft muffs create a great experience. Paired with my android UAPP iFi-xDSD they sound amazing. Okay, yes, these AKGs weren’t made in Austria, but they didn’t cost $500, either. They’re comfortable, lightweight, and their sound stage has to be heard to be believed. When you need surgery on your midrange
Surgical sound. You need these headphones for surgical sound editing in the midrange of your tracks. Finally hear your music.

You should try these especially if you like orchestral music or big bands playing jazz. One can hear every instrument playing among big ensemble. The bass is precise, accurate, not over-pushing. Mids and Highs are great. One thing you should consider is that the design isn`t comfortable for anybody.
