Thread Zap II - tz1300 - the standard model which does everything you want it to do, and has a fixed tip. Thread Zap Ultra - tz1400 - What makes this model special is it has a retractable tip for added safety, plus a more ergonomic & compact design for greater comfort.
Every now and then a product comes along that makes you think, "why the hell haven't I been using this all along!". The Thread Zap II falls into that category without doubt. Leather working is my thing, whether its small goods, repairs or casing a book. This product is just wonderful, and gives a professional look to your workmanship (even if the customers will never see the thread ends... which is the point exactly). It's construction is sturdy and well made, and is a pleasure to use in its simplicity. One AA battery is all it takes and the battery life is amazing for a heating element, though the element is rather small (which it needs to be). The replacement elements are well made and super easy to install, they are however quite fragile at the tip and need to be protected. The thread Zap II comes with a heavy duty end cap which protects the tip (element) and needs to be used before you place it down. Not only can the tip remain hot for around 10 to 15 seconds after use, but a simple knock can damage it, so use the cap all the time. In conclusion, there are no cons to using this wonderful product that I have experienced so far and I recommend it to anyone who uses thread and needle. Cheerio!
The thread Zapper makes finishing off Paracord bracelets and other items quick, easy and neat. Fro Ma safety point of view it is brilliant..no fiddling with a lighter and flame!
