my new brother sewing machine

Great value basic machine.
My previous sewing machine was almost 40 years old. It was so heavy that I struggled to carry it and place it on a table. As an early Xmas present to myself I decided to treat myself to a replacement. When it was delivered I propped the box my hip while I signed for it - I would have broken my hip if I had tried that with the other one!! Light weight, good to look at, easy to thread and a good range of straight and zig-zag stitch lengths. Some reviews report that it is noisy but I don't think so. The pedal seems a little flimsy but isn't likely to be ill treated. Good range of accessories - spare bobbin, needles, buttonhole and hemming feet and the bonus was the free carry bag (it does come with a plastic cover as part of the accessories but this is very flimsy). Good value machine.
The casing is metal, as are most of the parts, and the quality seems very good for the price, so I think the value for money is excellent. I haven't had it very long, and am still learning, but find it fairly easy so far. The only thing that I've noticed is the foot raiser is plastic which might not be an issue, but I feel a metal one would have been preferable. Brother LX17 Sewing Machine
