The Tascam Model 16 is primarily an analog mixer that not only sounds great in live sound situations, but also includes an integrated MULTI-TRACK recorder onboard (records to standard SD cards). The Model 16 can also connect to a computer via USB for use as a "front end" to a DAW, or to be used as a summing mixer when your project is ready for mix-down. Either way, the Model 16 adds a warmth and depth that can only be found in a high-quality analog mixer. The Model 16 can be rack mounted (rack kit sold separately), and features 12 HDDA mic pres along with line level inputs and even a Bluetooth enabled channel. In short, you won’t find a more versatile mixer on the market. If you want to record great sounding "board tapes" of your band, you have come to the right place, but the Model 16 is.

Great Mixer - Great Price
Easy to use - Just like the first Tascam - love the recording capabilities and transfer to computer editing I wanted the Model 12 - but didn't like the proprietary power cord - I felt like if it is lost at a gig -it's all over! This Model 16 has the standard 3 pin connector power cord. Sonically - it's 1st class and I'm already recording tracks the first day

It does everything.
Midi controller, interface, recorder, mixer in studio setting or on the fly, this hybrid seems not to have flaws. If phantom is required for mic, everything has to be phantom. That is the only problem.
