  • A manly man's tear jerker.

Brothers, grab that roll of paper towels and a good stiff drink. You are about to experience the grief and loss of a brother, but also the honor and dignity afforded him by the always faithful USMC. This movie will put you on an emotional roller coaster, but you will be much richer for having seen it. Tears will rain down, but you won't be able to stop watching this flick. Why HBO didn't release this to the theaters is beyond me, but I personally believe it should be required viewing in every high school in this nation. Why? Because it might bring forth some badly needed patriotism. Now a note to my fellow Wyomingites. This movie deals with the (real) loss of one of our own sons. One would almost fear that Hollywood would desecrate our great state and it's conservative values. However, much to the contrary they do us honor. To those who aren't here, yes, that's how we roll in this state. To those of us who are here, maybe this will attract a few more real patriots to join us. POWDER RIVER! LET 'ER BUCK! Would I recommend this movie to a friend. Yes, as much as I would recommend praying to God.

  • DVD Taking Chance

Awesome movie. The care and respect that Dover Mortuary gives to our country's fallen heroes is amazing. I was unaware of the meticulous attention to detail provided. Cannot say enough wonderful things about this very sad movie.

  • Very emotional true story done by a Marine to support another Marine and his family.

This very emotional and true story about a very young Marine who was killed in action. How his remains were brought back to his family, how his remains were treated all along the journey home. If this does not make you feel proud and appreciate how lucky we are. The most important thing this does for me is to show what the real cost of freedom is. The sacrifices that our soldiers make in blood and lives. This movie also shows how the family and community support these sacrifices. Had to have this and will watch it regularly and make sure when friends come over they watch it.

  • Excellent movie!

This is an excellent movie. I was on the verge of tears all the way through it. I highly recommend this film to anyone wanting to know to what extent the military goes to revere this nation's military casualties. Very moving and emotional depiction of the process of notification of kin and of taking a deceased marine home to his final resting place as seen through the eyes and experiences of the accompanying Casualty Escort. The experience impacts him to generate the story in print and eventually into this movie. Watch it on Veterans Day and get a better appreciation of what that day represents.

  • One of the best movies I have ever seen!!

This is a movie/documentary and it is excellent. Kevin Bacon is excellent in it. My husband was a Marine who served in Viet Nam and this movie shows the process of returning the deceased from war. It follows the entire process of the remains. From the transportation of the remains to the U.S. to how they are prepared for the transportation back to their family. You cannot see this movie and not realize what a price is paid by all for our freedom!

  • Uncomfortably well done.

In this story of a Marine escort Kevin Bacon does an incredible job of capturing the anguish so many of us who have survived feel and deal with every day. I'm not sure anyone who hasn't "been there, done that" wearing the uniform, especially that of a US Marine, can fully comprehend all of the nuances in this film but it would be good for every American to see it. I've said those exact same words he spoke outside the VFW on more than one occasion. Absolutely superb!

  • Well done

Kevin Bacon does an excellent job portraying the officer. Movie is well done. I lost a 2nd cousin 6 years ago and seen how the military treats our fallen soldiers. This movie really brought back memories of how my cousin and his family was treated when he lost his life in Kandahar. God bless our soldiers.
