  • Lightweight with great features

Sonic Unleashed is an ambitious entry in the series that delivers some of the most exhilarating high-speed platforming in Sonic’s history. The daytime stages are a thrill ride, showcasing the Hedgehog Engine’s impressive visuals and giving players a true sense of speed. The globe-trotting adventure brings a refreshing variety of environments, and the soundtrack is nothing short of outstanding. However, the game stumbles with its Werehog segments, which slow the pace considerably, shifting the focus to brawling mechanics that feel repetitive. While the medal-collecting progression system can be frustrating, the overall experience remains a strong and memorable one. Despite its flaws, Sonic Unleashed is a visually stunning and enjoyable adventure that captures the essence of what makes Sonic great, earning it a solid 4/5.

  • Best Sonic game of its time!

Im a Sonic gamer and have played lots of Sonic games but this is by far the best, I also played the wii version of Sonic unleashed before I knew about this one and trust me its no were near this. In Sonic unleashed wii version its more mission based and not very much detailed in the levels as much as this version, and its also not as much of a challenge. However, in the cutscene after werehog Sonic defeated Eggman right before dark Gaia if you look in Eggmans egg mobile you can see a dreamcast, dreamcast remote and games, is this in the Xbox version well I have not gotten to that part yet but its still way cool to see! I have also known that in some cutscenes things have been edited by Nintendo, Im guessing to fit more of there game play style. They also shortend the levels like when Tails is surrounded by bad guys Sonic just goes through the level and it shows the next cutscene, or the fact that they split Eggmanlands levels... In Xbox 360 its more for exploring, talking to people to get missions, longer more challenging levels, harder bosses, more details, personally I think this versions faster and more smooth when moving and theres even two parts were you get to fly the Tornado! I dont know why the wii versions more popular Im guessing its because its Nintendo. I havent beat this game yet, Im at Eggmanland, but so far its the best Sonic game I have and totally recommend it to others!

  • The best Modern Sonic game of all time!

By far the best modern Sonic game of all time! The speed of the daytime stages keeps you on your toes while letting you break the sound barrier to your heart's content while the night time stages provide a challenging beat 'em up experience complete with collectibles, RPG elements, and exciting hand to hand combat as you choose your strategies wisely while fighting hordes of enemies at a time. Combine that with an amazing soundtrack, superb level design, stellar animation and a compelling storyline, and you get arguably one of the best games the Sonic franchise has to offer.

  • Sonic Unleashed: A Diamond in the Rough

Sonic Unleashed is looked upon as one of the lesser titles in its franchise. When this game was released, it didn't necessarily receive that much positive remark from both critics and fans (at least the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions). For some strange reason, the Wii and PS2 versions of this game are looked upon as superior than the former versions. Why? The levels are a bit bland in the low-res versions, there are many more Werehog stages than Hedgehog stages, and you have to play the same levels over and over with new objectives just to complete the story. Thankfully, none of this is present in the hi-def versions of the game. High-speed action is what Sonic does best, and there's tons of that here in his Day stages. Levels such as Empire City and Cool Edge are perfect examples of just what a Sonic game can bring with fantastic level design, alternate pathways, shortcuts, and just pure spectacle and magic all around that Sonic is known for. And then comes what makes this game sort of a black sheep, the Werehog. I will say this right now, IT IS NOT BAD. THE WEREHOG IS NOT. BAD. I legitimately like the Werehog as it provides a change of pace from the crazy high speeds of Sonic and not to mention some sweet jazzy tunes~. There's some pretty good level design for a slow-paced platformer and tons of goodies and secrets to find now that you can take your time with these levels. The only gripe I have with them is the battle music playing over and over, but as I take my time and explore these levels for hidden secrets, they never really bothered me all that much as I was having too much fun! All and all, Sonic Unleashed is a pretty solid experience and extremely underrated and overlooked by its future brethren. It provides a nice amount of challenge that a lot of Sonic games lack in comparison. If you like running at blistering speeds and/or a beat-em-up puzzle-solving type of gameplay, then Sonic Unleashed is definitely what you're looking for. I highly recommend picking this game up if you come across it, especially so with the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.

  • Classic Sonic with a twist!

There is so much in this game that you can never get bored! This game is classic Sonic mixed into an adventure game. Beautiful graphics and atmosphere that has you constantly discovering. There is a great deal of interaction with the characters you meet while going about the game and puzzles to figure out but good ones, not monotonous. Definitely a must have game!
