Arris SBG6900-AC, Bigger in size, features.
Very powerful, easy set up, bigger in size then my previous router-modem sbg6580. I also have more items that use wi fi to set up heater, cameras, tv, and so on, this sbg6900 handles with no problem. Extremely easy to set up....
I'm not a professional techie so I can't comment on performance factors or bench marks. What I can say is that the Arris Surfboard SBG6900AC was very easy to set up and it works great. I was expecting that I might have to call for tech support but it was just as easy as plugging it in and then setting up the security protocols, that's it! Upgrade Your Life - Get a Refurb, Save $$$
This router is a huge improvement over its older siblings. Four internet ports, allowing me to attached priority machines straight to the data pipe (when you have a serious gamer in the house, this is important). As to the wifi function, I don't know as I have a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 that does the heavy lifting in that area. I can tell you this modem plays well with other routers. The speeds are amazing on Spectrum. Thus far, in tests, I'm regularly getting 10% over the stated download and upload speed limits for my service (shhhhh!!!). It has everything I need in one box WiFi 2.4 & 5 G. 4 Ethernet Ports 1 USB not sure what that one is used for. Wish the box was a little smaller and had 2 more Ethereal Ports always nice to have a minimum of 6 Ports. I have Spectrum Cable Service 10 megabit up and 100 megabits down Works Great. I have a family of 5 so Wi-Fi is in constant use. I used to have the standard modem that the cable company provides. We always had dead spot, and speed was always an issue. Best upgrade for WiFi users
I just installed the combo modem router to enable printing at 2.4 GHz band while.surfing on the 5 GHz band. I have experienced a 50% improvement in download rate to 50 Mb/s with improved range. Very few WiFi users in the area are using the 5 GHz band, so interference is nil. I am VERY pleased overall. This is a MIMO WiFi capable router, so bottlenecks caused by multiple users are virtually eliminated, meaning it can send & receive mulitple data streams at the same time. Thrilled with the range of the wifi and the 2.4MHz and 5 MHz work great. We had interference in streaming for HULU. It was hard to watch anything on Hulu. Now it plays as good as Netflix and Amazon Prime. We hard 3 appliances that only work on 2.4 MHz.
