  • Good for short wheelbase locomotives.

I can’t comment on the durability because I’ve only had it a short while. This switch contains the switch machine under the track and is powered by my DCC controller (Bachmann EZ Command II controller). No need for separate wiring. The instructions on how to program the switch are clear and easy to do. It comes with the frog unpowered. To add power to the frog , turn the switch upside down and you’ll see a small plug that you insert onto a prong. This is shown in the instruction sheet. This is the second switch that I purchased. The first one did have a problem with the Porter driver wheel stalling on top of the frog. I noticed the frog had a small piece of black plastic before and after the frog. The driver wheel was actually sitting on top of the slightly elevated black plastic insulator. I used a single edge razor to trim it even with the top of the rail and that solved the stalling. If this switch lasts then it will be worth the price.
