About this product

Product Information

The Sennheiser e609 is like a refined version of the the very famous Sennheiser MD 409 microphone. This mic is able to withstand high SPLs without being affected by distortion. With a very flat profile capsule, this Sennheiser microphone permits very close miking of guitar cabinets and drums. The super-cardiod design pattern enhances isolation for greater performance.

    Fast and Easy

I was deciding between this or an SM57. I got this for the main reason that I could simple hang it over the amp while it was reclined on its stand. The idea worked out perfectly. I simply loop it over the handle and down to the grill. Very easy to get great sounds out of this. I use it at church with a hot rod deluxe. I turn up the volume just enough to hear myself, pointed at me, but then I adjust the volume on the mixer to fill up the room using the PA speakers. This is a great way to have a fuller sound because I'm the only guitarist and we are only 3 members, drums, guitar and bass.

    Sennheiser disappointment

This is my second microphone from Sennheiser I wish they would have a universal sized Mike clip and adapter to mic stands I got the clip and now I have to look for another adapter for the mic stand totally inconvenient standard Shure 57 is a much better bet

  • Great mic

Got it to use in a studio where ele. guitars are played live to the playback monitors, the mic rejects the monitor sound to such an extent that the soloed ele. guitar track has almost no leakage at all. Just what I wanted it for. Get one for yourself. It is also nice that you don't need a mic stand.

  • Best guitar mic for $

Dollar for dollar I find the Sennheiser e609 to be the best guitar cabinet mic available. Smoother range & response than SM57 with a better shape for ideal placement. 20 year live audio engineer, this is my #1 choice. Great for recording also.

  • Very good for guitar

I play in an R&B band and needed to fix cross-bleed from the snare and bass guitar. This microphone does a wonderful job in helping with that. The sound guy said that he had to tame it down from the old 57 that it replaced. I'm going to have an Iron City and think about what the heck he meant. Not.

  • Industry standard for micing cabinets.

I used this mic for many years on my guitar amps and cabinets. Then amps started coming with xlr line outs, and the need went away - almost. While many amp manufacturers call their line outs "cabinet tuned", that turns out to be close but no cigar. I have gone to a smaller Blackstar amp simply because I'm getting old, and tired of swinging heavy amps in and out of the trunk of my car. However, while I love the amp, the line out is a TRS 1/8" which then needed an adapter cable and a D.I. box. Cabinet sound gone. The Sennheiser fixed that problem with ease. Now the sound that goes to the PA is exactly want is coming out of my amp. In hindsight, I never should've stopped using this cabinet mic. Within one week our other guitarist bought one as well. Yes, a lot of people swear by the SM57's, but the Sennheiser has a much larger diaphragm, and reproduces sound so much better. I highly recommend this mic to anyone that is micing a cabinet.

Very nice product. Used it last week and the sound from the front of house was exactly as it came from the amp. Wonderful fidelity! Well worth the price.

  • Sennheiser e609 Silver Guitar Amp Microphone

Clean sound! Very true to what my rig is producing. Lightweight with no strain on the mic cable when hung over the amp. (If used for recording, you may decide to use the supplied mic clip and find your sweet spot) Sleek looking and meshes in well with a black grill cloth. Sennheiser nailed it with this product. Solid construction with a smart design. The mic case is also a winner. Feel secure, way more practical then a SHURE 57 which also does the job, but I feel the e609 is cleaner from sound to looks.

  • No more SM 57

Been a SM 57 user for years...SM 57 finally quit working and bought a E609 after reading reviews. WOW...forget about SM 57's...This mic gives PURE reproduction in a live stage setting without fault....ALL SM 57 users NEED to try this mic..."NO REGERTS" lol...love that commercial..Congrats Sennheiser on a GREAT mic..

  • Sennheiser e609 silver

Yes Sennheiser nailed it with this microphone it’s on par with my SM 57. The e609 is excellent for Mic’ing guitar cabinets. In the studio The e609 is great. Now on the road, the Shure SM 57 is much more durable its built like a Tank! Other than that, they both sound great in a side-by-side comparison. You can’t go wrong buying either microphone.
