I have been very happy with this purchase. Of course the range is never far enough, but I have to say it replaced 3 bridged units I had in my home for the same coverage. Speed is very good and ease of setup was excellent. It was almost too easy, I kept going over it again to see if I over looked something. Unit has a lot of features and I love the fact you can set it for streaming so that whatever is streaming content the WAP will allow the streaming unit to grab the amount of speed it needs to limit buffering. 5G antenna could be better, it's not the same distance as the other bands. I would guesstimate that 5G goes well for about 50-60 feet and the other bands go about 120 feet, but I also have the unit in the far corner of my basement of a 2 story 1900 sqft home. There is no difference between the RT-AC68W model and the RT-AC68U except the color, if you don't mind white save the money over purchasing the black.
Easy to set up & use right out of the box. Was able to kill ISP-provided wi-fi within their Arris Gateway, dump my LinkSysy extenders, and reach the far corners of our large condo with just this ASUS beauty.
Very good router - especially for what I paid through ebay. Easy to program (I have a lot of experience with other brands) but with enough advanced settings that can be changed if needed. Good reach - it is transmitting from a 2nd floor bedroom and it is available in all areas on the lower floor. I used a wifi analyzer throughout the first floor with better-than-expected results.
I've had the lest amount of resets and down time with this router. It looks great, performs well, and you can turn those LEDs off with the push of a button. I haven't used the USB ports much, but they are there. Also you can install custom firmware on it (for now). Asus's updates don't get in the way of using the router. This is a great router and has great range for what it is. Oh... yeah the speed wirelessly are fine as long as the wireless devices are performing well.
