Easier to operate than most other controllers. Remote access is a nice feature.
The single most interesting feature of this controller is the remote access. You can control it from your smart phone or web browser. The control panel is easier to operate than most other sprinkler controllers, but it's still more complicated than necessary. The "smart watering" feature is a good idea, but the user interface is very confusing. Expect to spend hours experimenting with all the buttons and controls trying to get it set up properly. Orbit has an online help site but it's very lacking in details, so you're on your own for most of the complicated problems.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This should be sold as a Beta version
if your serious about your lawn continue reading. First of installation. Poor to no instructions. (I'm very handy)- I had to google and watch a u-tube video to figure out why the zones would not turn on. Turns out the label (put on crooked) marking the terminal connections (super cheap Phillip heads that strip and do not tighten well) was off by one position. (took about an hour to figure that one out). This was just a random video and not from Beta-Hyve. Once I got it up and running the first thing it said was that my soil moisture levels were at 17%??? how exactly did it determine this with 15 year old sprinkler heads that are not "smart" anyways that leads into the whole smart watering, rain delays and the system deciding when it wants to water which is a train wreck. The phone app is twitchy at best and is determining my weather from another state which I've reset three times. Its just the small things like the key for the barrel lock on the unit does not fit! really, no QA or attention to detail here. The app drops from WIFI often and you have to go into setting and give it a kick even though the router is 20ft away. I purchased Beta Hive to help water my new lawn and my old rainbird does not have enough flexibility to water 4 times per day. I'll be going back to that unit when my grass is in. DO not trust this unit, you have to baby sit it every day. In short it looks like it might be a good product some day if they can turn around their QA and spend some money on development but they are not there yet. Here is a idea for Beta Hyve, try having someone not familiar with your product test installing it using your directions. You would be amazed to learn how you've missed the mark. Excellent and easy to set-up.
This irrigation controller is nothing short of great!. Easy to install and set-up. I have been using it for several months now and it is amazing how much it is saving me. I use the rain delay feature and just let it rock. I can manually water when I want but the rain delay feature is best for me. I showed my neighbor how it works and he got one as well. Had a Rain Bird for almost 18 years before it started acting up. Got the B-Hyve because of the flexibility, no moving parts, wifi and bluetooth connect. It monitors weather and adjusts accordingly. Easy set up and easy to use app.
I don't know a lot about sprinkler systems and I was able to change the old analog plastic controller over to the new one in about 20 minutes. I simply downloaded the B-hyve app and started following instructions. The most intimidating part was switching the wires over but I just matched the old wires to the new slots and then ran zone tests to make sure it works. I love being able to control my irrigation through my phone. It's much easier than the old analog system that had no setting below 10 minutes per zone. I am now able to water more often but for less time during the hot days. I also like the personalized photo option for each zone on the app so I can easily remember which zone does what. The only negative is the "smart watering" feature on the app which thankfully is just an option. I didn't like the results it provided, so I went back to manually programming each day. That's the only reason I didn't give this system 4 stars. I think that feature still needs work.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

B-Hyve Sprinkler System Controller works great - program manually or from your phone!
Does what it is supposed to and you can program from the front panel or from your phone. It is perfect for what I need, as I am not so much interested in the automated adjustments due to weather conditions, which I have not paid much attention to. It has notified me though that it was skipping watering because it was raining or was about to rain within a few hours. It is kind of far from my WiFi router but seems to be working well. The ability to ater any zone manually is important for tsting and setting up the sprinkler system - and worked fine even a hundred feet or more into the yard.

I am impressed with how easy this thing is to set up. So far I've had no problems at all and found programming it a breeze. Of course I in the past had a manual 12 zone timer that had manual A-B switches and it took some real planning to get the result one desired. I find the auto rain delay thing a bit quirky but then realized I can also select which weather monitor station it uses too. The one it selected on it's own was about 15 miles away then I changed it to a closer one, 3 miles away and it seemed to improve. We live in Florida and it's very hard to generalize where the weather is though and can be raining right across the street while never touching your lot. All in all pretty darn close to perfect and the only thing I can see that would make it better would be some sort of soil sensors that would take the guesswork out of which areas would need moisture and when.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

I like the phone APP for winter preparation
