  • Foxwell NT630 Plus: good hardware but potentialy dangerous software.

Foxwell (Shenzhen Foxwell). NT630 Plus. The software associated with the car diagnosis tool is potentially dangerous. It doesn’t allow offline usage; meaning that you must log in to their site in order to use, from your computer, the data collected by the hand scanner. What is inadmissible to me (and should be to every smart computer user) is that the software forces you (if you want to use any of it) to use an “administrator account” to access it. The smart user knows that accessing any part of the internet on an administrator account instead of a plain “user account” exposes his data and the integrity of his PC and/or Network to many forms of threats such as data mining, re-writing of the Registry and all other forms of hacking. If you were, as you should, logging-in on a “user account” the software will DEMAND that you enter your administrator password in order to proceed. This not ethical and should not be tolerated and, as such, I have uninstalled this software and changed my passwords and I am evaluating if the use of the hand scanner alone is a viable proposition. As far as the scanner itself it recognizes my car as a Volkswagen but not as a VW Caddy and even less as a Caddy Blue Motion diesel (not even with manual entry) which means that a fair amount of functions of the ECU are not recognized and therefore not accessible. However the functions that are available are still worthwhile. If you are lucky enough to have a car that is fully recognized by the scanner it is a very good and very useful tool; if not, the functions that will remain available are still welcome and useful. View the danger relating to using the Shenzhen Foxwell software, I will never know if Foxwell comes to update their car model listing to include mine. What a pity!

  • Good unit. Has done what i wanted and paid for itself. Needs a face lift and price maybe a tad high

Pros : Easy to operate. Easy to update on computer once registered via cable. Menu pretty easy to understand. Hyundai Getz - wifes car : Disconnected a few sensors when servicing, MAP, TPS, Heater etc with car in OFF. Engine warning light stayed on - Found fault code "Heater" and Reset - All good. Glad i did not take it to dealer for something so trivial. Money recovered spent on this OBD scanner Actually bought the OBD because i have an AirBag warning light on in my Mitsu Triton GLXR 2011. Australia. OBD found fault code "B1441/Active" but could not reset because fault is still present - "Right side curtain Airbag open circuit" Could Google fault code and found YouTube video of Aussie bloke explaining exact same fault on exact same Mitsubishi - now to find the intermittent connector pin in the wiring harness : Mitsubishi factory fault!! Should Reset once fixed. Cons: Probably a bit dated considering all the smart touch screens have been around for years Even though i think it is good value the price is a tad on the high side

  • Easy to use for anyone!

It does exactly what it should and is good for any one that has an early Commodore or Falcon from 1988 to 2004 that has the OBD1 diagnostic connector terminal; Also good for American, English, Japanese and European vehicles of the same period as well as for vehicles that are made after 2004 that use the OBD11 diagnostic system!

  • diagnosed & reset 2010 diesel Triton airbag fault, instruction manual very very limited!

I purchased this item to check & reset an airbag fault on my Mitsubishi Triton Diesel 2010 model The manual was very limited, but I ended up selecting a different country & loading generic parameters in for a Triton- then I was able to diagnose, save & clear the airbag fault light. If it comes up again I will take to a dealer for service (at least I know where the fault lies & cannot be ripped off! - hopefully). now that I have this scanner I can share with friends if they have any future issues with their vehicles.

  • Decent product for money

Good product, does most of what it says but will not read vin numbers, you can’t find out if it does your make and model of car until you use it.

  • Good enough for amateurs

Is very easy to use, but feels poorly made.
