Ladies love it
It is a great feeder and this is my second one, first one still great just wanting to put in two different feeds for the ladies. Mice and rats used to be a problem but no more. Lid stays open
We purchased this product to keep rodents from stealing the chicken food at night. It took our chooks 2 weeks to start using this feeder. Initially they were scared because it was unstable, as it was sitting on top of chicken wire and the ground underneath was unstable. We ended up screwing the feeder on a flat piece of timber, which worked well. When the chicken started using it, we found that the lid would often stay open when they left the feeder. Including at night, when the rodents came to visit. Unfortunately, we have found the feeder a little flimsy. We will keep making alterations to secure the feeder a bit better. Overall, it was the best priced feeder on the market at the time of our purchase.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Not a great design
Not a great design. With a little more attention to detail it could work, but the fact that the foot plate is too slippery for the chickens to even stand on defeats the purpose of this item. A little glue and sand could fix this problem.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Not automatic when lid always stays open

Too easy!
I definitely recommend this product, especially if you're having trouble with pesty bird's & rodents stealing your chickens expensive feed. You'll be happier with the money saved in wasted or stolen food, the chickens take a few days to get the gist of how it works but i assure you that they learn very quickly when hungry. It works well, only problem was the hens standing on the activation step, there feet kept slipping off scaring them, I added a no slip mat to the step and would place each hen on it gently to show where the food was, only one hen will not open it waiting for the others to do it, would give 3.5 stars but no where to do itVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Easy To Assemble
My auto chicken feeder arrived within three days of being posted in excellent condition. It was a bit fiddly to put together but worked perfectly once assembled. I would be happy to recommend these auto feeders for your chooks if the sparrows are eating more than the chooks.
