  • Great set with some production problems

This set and figures are long awaited by hard core fans. The Fleisher Superman cartoons have their own legendary status and there has not really been a lot of marketing for this specific look of Superman. Much like Mezco's Batman 66' set, these are less playable toys than display dioramas for true fans. The five point articulation is stiff and very limiting, but the basic sculptures are almost breathtaking if you have been waiting for this for 50+ years. The only shortcomings are the same that define the previously mentioned 66' Batman. These characters are designed small and on the lean side, and when these figures are cast the multiple times needed for mass reproduction at this size there is warpage that is hard to predict. The Superman figure I received on opening the package shows a warping in the head casting compared to the photos on the box and marketing materials. It's a little pinched from overcasting and one side of the face has sunk slightly. (happens frequently at smaller sizes.) This throws off the balance of the eyes, and the brows are pushed together almost forming a unibrow. The paint is good, but the sculpture is affected. However this is such a treat, that I ordered 3 from separate sources in the hope that one will have a better Superman casting. I am hoping that Mezco will release the figures separately carded too.

  • Great set of figures, but pricey for what you get.

Great figures but they are very tiny for the price. Also, the cardboard "playset" is, although beautifully illustrated, kind of cheap.
