NotesBefore telling you about this wonderful album, if you are just trying to contact us, you should scroll down now to the bottom of this page. Otherwise, read on! Musical instruments commonly heard in the global media today, all started somewhere. The piano is from Italy, the guitar and it's smaller cousin the quatro (later altered and called ukulele in Hawaii) came from Spain. However, once these instruments leave their homeland, they are no longer thought of as the 'Spanish guitar, Hawaiian ukulele or the Italian piano.' The country of origin is dropped and the instrument is just known by it's own name. However, the steel pan remains associated with the Caribbean because it is fairly young in the world, only about 65 years old, whereas other instruments have been around hundreds of years. Moving pan up to the world stage will require that it travels to, and becomes influenced by, the music of different countries. Therefore, Junko and I would like to welcome you to Hawaiian-Style Steel Pan, the new sound in Hawaiian music. In the last few years our intent has been to take the steel pan into different musical areas (Latin, Classical, American Standards, etc.) Now with this, our 7th album, please enjoy the world's first all Hawaiian music to be played on it. Helping us do this are some of Hawaii's best musicians playing Hawaiian Steel Guitar, Slack Key Guitar, Ukulele and Piano. Junko and I are grateful to our fans all around the world for supporting our brand of music. If you have not joined our email list and wish to, please send your email address to: gmacd@aloha.net.
