Not Bad...
After using this light, I'm not sceptical about the 345 lumens. This light operates on either a single AA battery or a rechargeable 14500. I tested it with both battery types: There is a significant difference in lumens depending on the battery you use. My suggestion: Don't bother with the AA (or rather, keep it for a backup). Only use the rechargeable14500. The Coast HX5 is small and fits nicely in a pocket using the clip. PROS: Lumens and size. The white-colored beam has a nice center spot. Tailcap activation button. CONS: The tailcap button is a bit recessed. And personally, I don't like the spot/flood option only because it slides too easily and doesn't offer a lock-out (by turning it clockwise). Some previous versions of Coast did offer this option. The pocket clip isn't as snug as it should be to retain the light in the pocket. The size of the HX5 is nearly the same as the Nitecore MT10A. I paid $16 out-the-door for the HX5. I got the MT10A for $40. The Nitecore has 920 lumens. If you want to spend the extra $20, go Nitecore. I like the HX5 only has (1) light option: High (no medium-low-strobe...). It's either on or off (or momentary on using the tailcap). This light is simple. Being said, the Coast is a good $16 purchase only if you use the 14500 battery to get maximum lumens.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Already have to test the warranty.
I hand tightened where the battery goes because I saw a little bit of the O red ring. I guess that was a mistake because now it won’t open or come off at all. I used my Leatherman and vise grips to try to loosen it. Not a chance. I know how to work flashlights so I know I wasn’t making it any tighter then hand tight. So I suggest you leave it as is so you don’t end up like me. I’ll wait for the battery to die out then I’ll contact coast and see if they are true to the lifetime warranty. Excellent little edc light besides that.

Coast makes such great lights. the lenses are the key component that makes them so much better.
