    Everyday Appliance

    Before I acquired this my vegetable eating was mediocre....now I add turnip, sweet potato, carrot, jicama etc. to my regime of vegetables that I eat. I flash boil bok choy, leeks, snow peas, carrots together and add the other thin sliced vegetables afterwards along with mung bean sprouts....this gadget is indispensable. It's very sturdy and cleans easily. You do have to be a little careful using it but it works very well..

    Doesn't work for me

    It works slicing soft vegetables like tomatoes. Also, slicing carrot for the thinnest threads works. But any thinker knife with any more or less hard vegetables (like carrot, potato, etc) just doesn't work. Fully disappointing.

    The BEST Mandolin Slicer you will ever find.

    I have to admit, I'm a previous owner of this Mandolin Slicer, so I might be biased. The previous one lasted for YEARS before the blade finally gave out (well, rusted because of poor maintenance). My parents bought the previous one when I was a kid (some twenty years or so ago while they were travelling) and it lasted until just a while back ago. So you know that this product will last, unlike cheap knock-offs. It has a few shredding accessories that can be fastened onto the device which allows you to get three different sizes of shreded veggies, perfect for pickling, stir-frying, or whatever you are planning. If you don't want to shred, it has the smoothes slicing with adjustable sizing to get those super thin slices, or those thick crunchy slices, whichever you want at the time, all with simple knobs that are very easy to use. My only regret with this product is how narrow the slicing bed is. If it was wider, I could do some of the larger veggies I usually deal with without having to cut them in half or quarters. Aside from this, this product is perfect for all your uniform slicing/shredding needs.

    Adequet for smaller work.

    Not a good holder for items being sliced but so far have not cut any fingers.It works well on vegetables when held carefully. A bit narrow which is corrected by later models.

    Best Kitchen Assistant

    Best cutter I ever used

    Incredibly sharp, produces nice stripes of different sizes. Dangerous - enclosed small plastic safety handler is useless, because it can not firmly hold vegetables. Be careful with your fingers! Despite of narrow tray, mandolin is quite comfortable for cutting carrots and cucumbers, but not big potatoes. Overally - it is the best mandolin stripes cutter I ever used.

    Cucumbers

    Anything larger than a cucumber........good luck!...Had it been 6" wide, I would recommend to everyone....but as tiny as it is....that it's downfall.....I'ts 2.5 inches wide!....Good luck doing french fries with it! I like the adjustable features, but it's just to narrow! I wasted my money on this!

    Slices thinner than other mandolins I've tried

    I like the nice thin slices that I can make with this mandolin. I mainly only use for nice thin slices and it does the job. It is thinner than other mandolins I've tried but I have been able to use it for everything I do. I also like that in the future when I need a new blade I can just replace instead of purchasing a new mandolin again. The only down side that I noticed so far is that it stains and it takes a couple washings to remove carrot stains.....
