Love this cooker. It's good quality and price. Just the right size for a small family. The pre seasoning is helpful. PERFECT WEIGHT, FOOD TASTES GREAT!!
I unboxed this set and put it on the stove right away and cooked bacon and eggs, after cleaning it with dish washing liquid. This set is just what I wanted. The smaller pan is a bit heavier than the larger dutch oven. I did notice a little area (about the size of the tip of your index finger) on the edge of the dutch oven that was not fully coated, but nothing that made me concerned. It's cast iron and a few imperfections are just that. I rubbed some cooking oil on it and no harm, no foul!! After I took a paper towel and dropped about 1/2 teaspoon cooking oil and wiped the surface of the lid and dutch oven right away (even though it describes it to be 'pre-seasoned'), I turned the burner to medium heat (the lid portion only) and this baby heated up in about one minute. The bacon made that sizzling sound you want to hear and it cooked perfectly, no burn spots, Same with the eggs, except the eggs did stick a bit in a couple places but not enough to ruin them. After enjoying my delicious meal, I cleaned the pan with clear water, wiped it clean with a dry dishtowel and placed it on a medium-hot burner for about one minute so it will get completely dry. After it dried completely, I added a drop of veggie oil and wiped the entire surface insider, handles and outside with a light coat of oil. This is a great set. The two fit together nicely. I have not stopped cooking with them since they arrived. My food tastes better now. I am accustomed to cast iron and I am happy to own this set. I really enjoy cooking with it because the heat is evenly distributed and meats cooks evenly throughout. I recommend this set. Great combo for baking bread
Great quality product which arrived on time. It is made of good quality cast iron and not too heavy to handle although, when combined, both the skillet and the pot will be too much to handle for the weak SJW or Antifa types. This is a great multi purpose cooker. From stews, to soups, to frying chicken and fish and the top for eggs and bacon and pancakes...Just a great combo! Originally purchased for camping, but after using it a few times, we also use it in the kitchen as well
The combination is very flexible as a frying pan, a covered pot, stew pot, and dutch oven as coals can be placed on top. Camping we use the combo on a wood stove where the cooking properties of cast iron really come in handy with the heat retaining characteristics, even heating, and, that because of it's mass it heats up gradually without hotspots that can burn your food. This all takes less tending on a wood stove, and these same characteristics work at home as well. The pans are also sturdy, no question about damaging them or the non stick coating that comes on much of the camping pan sets. Not backpacker or canoeist gear because of weight, but the best combo for chuck wagon, car or jeep camping and wood stove cooking.
