  • Finally, I get to review this product

It is so much easier to write a great review of a quality product than one of a rip off. For years, I have been using a so so set of magnifiers that were clumsy to use, did fit well, and generally caused as much eye strain as they solved. They cut my head last week when I bumped into something and ended up in pieces in the trash can. So, I started to look for a really good set of magnifiers. There were pages of junk just like I owned, and then I spotted these. I don't care about price if the product is good. At $35, this was not a hard choice to make, and the lenses are made of glass. I got them the same week, immediately wanted to try them out. The headband is padded and adjusts to size the same way that a welding helmet does. That is a step up right there. Then I flipped the magnifier down, and it didn't get stuck on anything. Yah, that's another step up from the old ones. Most importantly, the view and magnification were so much better than the old set. That is why you buy the product in the first place! I looked at the tiny circuits that I work on daily, and saw a perfectly in focus image. That also means that each eye was comfortable with the view, and did not have to compensate individually. All this translates into a product that doesn't have to be apologized for. I would be proud to make a product of this standard and have my name on it.

  • Works Great!

This works much better than I expected. It took only a few minutes to get used to using it, and it is very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I bought this Donegan magnifier after having a lousy experience with another brand and style (the kind that looks like two little "telescopes" attached to an eyeglass frame). I use this magnifier to work on vintage radio circuitry, and it is excellent. I normally use reading glasses for close-up work, and I still wear them when using this magnifier. It is virtually distortion-free, and the glass lenses provide crystal-clear vision. After 4 hours of continuous use, there's absolutely no eye strain either. The other set of "binocular-style" magnifiers required switching back and forth between the magnifier and my reading glasses - what a pain. These Donegans flip up and down effortlessly, with one hand. Donegan also makes an identical-looking product, but with plastic lenses. For a few dollars more, these are optical glass - far more durable. Both have interchangeable plastic frames for different magnifications. This visor, with the glass lenses, have screws which mount the lenses to the hood, not plastic snaps. Again, well worth the extra money. All in all, this was one of the best "tools" I've ever purchased.

  • Dont waste your money on competitor's junk.

I have tried them all. The chinese made all use low grade plastic lenses that distort the peripheral field of view. The Bausch and Lombe are also plastic lenses. They are good quality but the visors are very fragile and always end up cracked and broken not to mention the are very expensive. I have an optivisor that is over 15 years old and looks like it will be around another 15 years. The only problem with it ever was I had to replace the rivets with screws and nuts. I can't work without a visor. Optivisor is hands down the best. I have bought more than 10 visors for the job. None have held up better than OptiVisor.

  • Quality Design

While searching for visor/headband magnifiers, the only brand with a reputation of quality was Donegan. I read the reviews and noted the occupations and tasks of users. The Donegan Optivisor is very well made with attention to detail. The headband is adjustable and the tension of the flip-up pivot points can be adjusted. The visor does not interfere with eye glasses, The lenses are glass, not plastic, and can be easily changed. Donegan has been in business since 1952 and specializes in magnifiers and they even have a chart of focal lengths and magnification of the various lenses. The optional eye loupe doubles the magnification and can be swung up or down when needed.

  • Best in the Business

After trying several less expensive magnifiers, which always had issues (no battery to change, lens mounting breaking, lenses unclear, I finally bought the opti-visor. It is comfortable but rugged. The "dial" band adjustment is genius. And most important, I see detail simply not available in other magnifiers. Buy the best, first, and avoid disappointment. .

  • Excellent vision assist for close work

This model works great for real close work. Very clear optics and comfortable to wear. I will be getting the DA3 model also when I need more eye relief

  • Comfortable!

Easy adjustment even for my big head and comfortable. Focal length is kinda short with the 2x (about 10 inches) which takes a little getting used to, You can wear these easily over your readers.Wish I'd bought them a long time ago...

  • New is not better

I bought this to replace my worn out 49 year old optivisor. The new one is what you get, however my old one has a foam backed head band ( worn out now) along with Metal adjustment knobs for tilt and head band tightness. This is what is now available--new isn't better or improved, but the price is OK and the supplier is AAA.

  • Good useful item.

Nice and clear, glass lens, durable plastic goggles, I use it every day. I should have bought one of these years ago.
