Product Information
A nuclear holocaust has turned Washington, D.C., into a radioactive wasteland. Mutant creatures freely roam the land while a select few survivors live safely within underground shelters engineered by the Vault-Tec Corporation. Your uneventful life inside the vault takes a dramatic turn when your father mysteriously disappears. Looking for answers, you begin a journey into the great unknown -- a test of survival in an inhospitable environment. Based on the acclaimed post-apocalyptic role-playing series from former publisher Interplay, Fallout 3 features a wide-open world viewed from a choice of first- or third-person perspectives.<br><br>Developed by the team behind the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and featuring the same graphics engine, Fallout 3 has you embarking on an assortment of quests while exploring, scavenging, and battling for your continued existence. Scrap-metal cities and rusted shantytowns are sources of human contact, but in between them lurk a number of hostile threats. The real-time combat is modeled after shooting games, albeit with the option to pause time for more precise shots using V.A.T.S. (the Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System). V.A.T.S. lets you pinpoint vulnerability areas with the help of percentage markers displayed on each body part. The higher the percentage, the likelier you are to hit the highlighted area. <br><br>Aiming at a particular body part can cripple it, affecting the enemy's ability to use an arm or leg in combat, while critical hits result in graphic displays of dismemberment. Defeating enemies earns you experience points to enhance your character's stats and acquire abilities called "perks," or specific talents in a chosen area of expertise. Fallout 3 also features some camaraderie in the form of a loyal canine named Dogmeat and a non-player character of your choosing. A licensed soundtrack with songs from the '40s and '50s helps set the mood, offering such hits as "Way Back Home," "Anything Goes," "Butcher Pete," and "I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire."<br><br>The "Game of the Year Edition" includes the full original game, and for the first time on PS3, all five of Fallout 3's expansion packs: Operation Anchorage, Broken Steel, The Pitt, Point Lookout, and Mothership Zeta.

Such a great game! A very immersive and expansive world. Though load times can be a bit slow at times, and there are known to be bugs/game freezes. I save often, disable auto save and rarely have any issues. I've been playing the non-GOTY edition for quite a while and just upgraded to the GOTY edition. The initial load up wasn't good. Excruciatingly slow load times and a freeze up right away. Reset my PS3 loaded again and it was as smooth as ever. I'm looking forward to the added content.
I’m a collector and I purchased this trusting the description, which states that a map and poster are included. Game looks decent but only has map. I only wanted the poster. Thanks for the backup copy, anyway.
It's been 16 years and this game still holds up to the test of time with its amazing open world exploration. Yes the graphics are dated. And the PS3 takes some time to load. But this game is still amazing.
Work just as expected came fast I've had no problems out of it other than the occasional freeze that I was used to when I bought the game brand new ye
Work just as expected came fast I've had no problems out of it other than the occasional freeze that I was used to when I bought the game brand new years ago when I was only 18.
I last played this game around 2015 i loved everything about it at the time i played on the Xbox 360 now i also have a PS3 i have not played it on the PS3 yet but this game no matter what platform you play it on is an amazing experience i rate the game 10/10 ill leave more feedback once it arrives on the packaging and state of the disc and manual if it comes with one
You'd think Bethesda work have it all worked out by now, but I guess they like to make "buggy" games! The Fallout series is GREAT, especially Fallout 3, I upgraded to GOTY, it's got more bugs, but not as bad of freeze ups. Point is, if your patient and save often, Fallout GOTY is an Awesome game!
I haven't finished it yet, but after about 20 hours I'm fairly hooked. I experience occasional glitches, but those may be due to my older machine. The NPC's are well voice-acted, the exploration elements are incredibly satisfying, and the vistas are jaw-dropping. You will hit points of frustration where you die due to misunderstandings or too-specific level design, but these are irrelevant if you save frequently. (In face, finding your way past these obstacles is engaging and part of figuring the world out for yourself.) There is nothing on-rails about Fallout 3.
